Best Mom in the World

PPMAR1603D_TulipsInHobnailPitcher_largeSince Mother’s Day is just around the corner, I figured I’d better get a card ready to send my own mother. I knew that she would love this image from Power Poppy, but I wanted to incorporate her favorite color. As it turns out, there is such as thing as blue tulips so after looking at lots of images on Google, I decided upon the blue and violets flowers that you see here.

This color combination really pushed me out of my comfort zone. I still have trouble shading and blending any of the violet combinations so I usually avoid them. But once I picked out the blue combinations, I knew that putting the extra work into blending the violets would be worth it if the end result was an extra special card.

Because after all, I have the best mom in the world.

  1. Nancy, this is a gorgeous card! Your coloring is exquisite and so rich! You’ve certainly picked one of my favorite Power Poppy digital images and made it shine! I love it! Hugs!

    1. Jeanne – I’ve been making cards and coloring for about two years. During that time, I’ve been able to take a lot of classes with fabulous teachers, including Rhea Weigand, Jennifer Dove, and Cindy Lawrence. I got to know the women at my local scrapbook store who have been great at making suggestions, showing me new card making techniques, and supporting me along the way. I also try to color for a least a few minutes each day. So the secret for me has been working with really fun and talented people along with lots and lots of practice!
