Rose and Chamomile

Power Poppy Rose & Chamomile
Rose & Chamomile

It’s the 15th of the month so that means a new release from Power Poppy. In honor of National Rose month, Marcella has incorporated a single rose bloom unfurled amongst a swirl of chamomile and rosehips. Stop by the Power Poppy blog to see what Marcella has to say about this image.

I don’t really enjoy fussy cutting an image, so where possible I use my Silhouette Cameo cutting machine . For this card I used the Silhouette Design Studio software to trace and detach the white background from the digital image of single rose. Using the software, I drew a circle so that I have a shape to aid in the placement of the roses. I made multiple copies of the detached rose image, rotating and overlapping them as necessary to get the desired shape. I wanted to add the sentiment to the circle, but the sentiment as provided in the stamp set was too long so I cropped it and turned it into two shorter lines instead of one long line. Once the image was printed and colored, I used my Silhouette to cut out the image.

I don’t use embossing folders very often – actually I usually forget that I have them! — but after playing around with a lot of different patterned cardstock, I decided that the texture of an embossing folder would add some interest without distracting from the central image of the rose.

UPDATE 6/16/2016: Now that it’s been announced on the Power Poppy blog, I can reveal that I’ve joined the Power Poppy team this month as one of the Instant Gardeners. You know my love for these images so I’m excited for this opportunity to work with this incredibly talented group of artists. Stop by their blogs and see what they are up to!
