Ruffled Wild Orchids

Power Poppy Ruffled Wild OrchidsIt’s the 25th of the month so that means another digital release from Power Poppy! Here’s my interpretation of the new Ruffled Wild Orchids digital stamp. Known as the Queen of Orchids, Cattleyas put on quite a display with their showy ruffles and gorgeous rainbow hues. With an almost unlimited array of color combinations at your fingertips, you will have a great time being your own Orchid hybridizer, mixing and matching to your heart’s content!

I tested a LOT of color combinations until I finally hit upon one that I was satisfied with. I colored this image several times over the past few days, but I’ve had a migraine off and on since Saturday. All of my attempts looked like angry orchids out of Little Shop of Horrors and I finally realized I was coloring my migraine. A visit to the doctor, a dose of new meds, and a nap later, I colored it again and it doesn’t look like my migraine any more! Here’s my post-migraine color map to help guide your coloring.

  1. Though I hate that you have had to deal with a migraine like that, your description of the angry orchids is so spot on Nancy! I’m glad you found some relief and look at these very un-angry, gorgeous variety. Beautifully coloured, and I love the polka-dots too! I tried to look up that app in the app store and couldn’t find that specific one, possibly just an American app?

  2. Wow, Nancy, I’m so sorry you struggled with a bad migraine. Those are no fun, but I’m thrilled to see you broke through a colored a beauty! It’s stunning, and I love this die against the beautiful DP…and the inside! Beautifully done! Hugs!

  3. So sorry about your migraine, they surely are miserable! Your card is WONDERFUL! I love the way you colored the orchids and being cut out with the pretty die! The dotted background is so pretty with the image too 🙂

  4. Hi Nancy. Migraines aren’t just a headache, it’s a debilitating illness and people forget that. I can totally sympathise with u. I’ve a few disabilities and am bedbound most of the time wishing everyday I could just manage to do one card a day 😟. But there’s no way I could do such an amazing job as you have on this card. Beautiful 😆🤗

  5. Now this is just beautiful. I like the soft warm coloring, the oval frame is gorgeous with these Orchids. Not to mention your coloring is outstanding. Beautifully done!
