Monarchs and Milkweed

Power Poppy Monarchs and Milkweed Digital StampToday I’m featuring the new digital stamp set from Power Poppy called Monarchs and Milkweed. Based on an original watercolor and gouache painting created for a graduation ceremony, this scene of transformation follows the Monarch from caterpillar through chrysalis to butterfly. Milkweed (Asclepius) is the only plant on which a Monarch will lay eggs, and here we celebrate the phases of Milkweed as well, from seeds carried away by the wind, through buds and flowering, to the formation of new seed pods. Accompanied by a hand lettered quote with these wonderful Lauryn Hill lyrics: “Everything is everything; What is meant to be, will be; After winter must come Spring; Change, it comes eventually.” The image is larger format than most of the Power Poppy digis, 6″ across, and of course can be enlarged or reduced in a photo editing program. Lighter “no-line” format image also included.

Be sure to stop by the Power Poppy blog for some extra special inspiration!

  1. Nancy, this is beautiful, and I love your rich coloring! I love the portion you’ve used of this image with that sweet caterpillar and stunning monarch! Great milkweed colors too! I love it, sweet friend! Hugs!

  2. This is absolutely lovely!!! I am a huge fan of this card. I love butterflies and I have milkweed planted to attract them. This year I had the most butterflies I have ever seen out there. It was super exciting.
