Busy Bees by Honey Bee Stamps

GOOD MORNING FRIENDS! Sometimes even when you’re retired, it’s a relief when the weekend rolls around. It’s been a busy week. I spent a couple of afternoons with my parents and I finally turned in the class samples for my May class at Queen’s Ink (Stamping Bella in case you were wondering!). Lunch and a couple of dinners with friends. Makes me sound like more of a social butterfly than I really am! Just a small breather this weekend – I’m at an all day workshop for caregivers today and I teach at Photo Scraps on tomorrow afternoon (space still available!).

Yesterday morning, I pulled out some of my supplies from Honey Bee Stamps and put together a card that ending up containing a little bit of everything – a little stenciling, some washi tape, die cuts, Copic coloring, stamping and all sorts of embellishments. This was another card that evolved along the way.

I created the background by stenciling a strip on the left hand side using the Tim Holtz Honeycomb Layering Stencil and Distress Inks in Fossilized Amber and Wild Honey. While the stencil was still in place, I covered it with a layer of Transparent Gloss Texture Paste and then removed the stencil and set the background aside to dry. I had originally intended that to be the entire background, but it didn’t look like enough so I added a strip of the Zen Floral Washi Tape by Honey Bee Stamps. And then that didn’t look right either so I added two more! Not what I intended when I started, but I liked the end result.

I added a stacked Smile die cut and sentiment from the Smile stamp set, both by Honey Bee Stamps. I selected a few of the bee images from the Busy Bees Stamp set by Honey Bee Stamps and colored them with Copic markers. I covered the wings with Wink of Stella to add a little sparkle. I finished off the card with a few Dewdrops also from Honey Bee Stamps.
