Little Elf Finn by Mo’s Digital Pencil

THANK GOD IT’S FRIDAY! Even though I’m retired, I’m still happy to see the week come to an end. No plans for the weekend so I’m looking forward to a few quiet days before the holiday rush of the coming weeks.

So here I am! Another day, another elf! This time my card features Little Elf Fin by Mo’s Digital Pencil. Lately, I’ve been avoiding coloring images in the traditional reds and greens of the holiday, but decided it suited this cheeky elf.

Little Elf Mim by Mo’s Digital Pencil

GOOD MORNING FRIENDS! I’m still on a roll coloring holiday images. Although I’ve only been coloring a few years, I’ve already accumulated quite a collection of stamps. Recently, I realized that like many crafters, I actually have two hobbies: one is collecting craft supplies and the other is actually using them. So last night, I decided to look through some of the images that have been waiting patiently in my stash to finally make it onto a card.

I’ve long been a fan of Maurie Manning and I have many of her digital stamps as well as those sold as rubber stamps by Penny Black Stamps. Her series of stamps featuring the elves Mim, Finn, Kin and Pippa are among my favorites. Although I’ve colored this image before, I decided to try my hand at it again with non-traditional holiday colors.

Again, I kept the card design simple so that the image could take center stage. It’s getting close to Christmas and I just might have cards ready to mail if I don’t waste time agonizing over layout!

Frost!

Another holiday card using one of the newer seasonal images from Mo’s Digital Pencil. I nearly scrapped this one while I was coloring it. I started coloring the clothing with BG10, BG11, and BG13, but couldn’t get it to blend well. I was getting discouraged and it was getting late, so I left it on my desk and went to bed, figuring I’d start over in the morning.

In the morning, it still looked as bad as I remembered it. I loved how the face and hair turned out (which is saying a lot because that’s usually my downfall) so I really didn’t want to scrap the effort. Figuring I had nothing to lose, I started reworking the clothing with B02 and suddenly the colors blended like magic! So I added BV20 and BV23 to get some depth in the folds and voila! We have Frost!

Skating

Today I’m over at the Passionate Paper Creations blog with my latest holiday card featuring one of my favorite images from Mo’s Digital Pencil. I’ve teamed Belle and Bronte with a couple of Creative Basics dies to create this winter holiday skating scene.

Soldier’s Shoulders

Yesterday I showed two cards from a special request that I received for Veterans Day cards. Today, I’m highlighting the last card, but it is extra special because Maurie Manning created the image by request. If you are familiar with her digital stamps, you know that she had the image Soldier’s Shoulders Boy already available from her website, but the corresponding image with a girl did not exist. So I contacted Mo directly through her Facebook group and she graciously (and quickly) made this image available. Thanks Mo!
