It’s a Beautiful Life

At the beginning of the month, I retired from my job of 37 years. These past weeks have been full of transition, from being on a structured schedule day in and day out to one so unstructured that I have to really think to remember what day of the week it is.

The first week felt like I had just taken a few days off and would be returning shortly to work. The second week was full of emotion as my former job transitioned away from me as well. Last week, I felt like a kid on the first day of summer vacation looking forward to long, lazy months ahead.

This week – I’ve gotten used to not going to work. I’m finding a new rhythm to the days and a new structure to the week. I’m finding ways to keep busy and engaged in new and different things that I didn’t have time to do when I was working.

It’s a beautiful life. And I’m off on my next adventure.

August Demo Day at Photo Scraps!

Come see me today at Photo Scraps where I’ll be offering two cards featuring stamps from Penny Black and My Favorite Things. In both cases, I took my inspiration from the Penny Black blog, more or less CASEing two cards by Vicky Papaioannou and Francine Vuillème. I loved the designs of both cards, reproducing them here with minor modifications.

Have a Blooming Great Day

Catching up on a few cards that I created, but never posted to my blog. This one was created for the LDRS Creative Inspiration blog back in May. It’s a simple card that features the Daisy Daisy Stamp and Die set by Polkadoodles. I liked this particular card design because I was able to use up different bits of solid card stock left over from other projects.

Scaredy Crab

Here’s a card that is a little out of the ordinary for me! The image – Scaredy Crab – is a digital stamp by Bloobel Stamps, a company known for off-beat, quirky images. I paired it with a sentiment from PaperArtsy (another company known for off-beat images) and the result is a fun card that was quick and easy to put together.

Be sure to stop by the Passionate Paper Creation and Friends Facebook group where Bloobel is our sponsor of the week. Check out the group banner for a special code to receive 10% off the entire store.

Friend

Yesterday, I retired from a job that I’ve held for the past thirty-seven years. Like any job, there were days when it just drove me crazy — the commute, the hours, the seemingly endless workload, the stress — you name it! But it was also a place where I worked with a special group of people and made many lasting friendships that I will always hold dear even though I’m not with them every day.

I decided to make a few cards to give to some of my co-workers (because when you’re a card maker that’s what you do!). This is one of the last that I made, but I hope that the message is clear no matter how simple the design.
