Heartwarming | Penny Black

HEY FRIENDS! I’m back today with a new project featuring the Heartwarming stamp set by Penny Black. More about that in a moment. I planned on a Christmas in July theme for the blog last month, but here it is — August — and I’m just getting started. I love making holiday cards so I decided to pull out stamp sets from my stash that I didn’t get around to coloring last winter. This is one of the images from the Heartwarming stamp set by Penny Black. I love snowmen, so it seemed like the perfect image for the holiday card of the season.

I stamped the image with Memento Ink in Tuxedo Black on X-Press It Blending Card and colored it with Copic markers. I used a lot of markers, but there are several small details in this image. I trimmed the panel with the Stitches of Love die by Penny Black and added layers of design paper and solid cardstock as shown.

Cuddle Up | Penny Black

HEY FRIENDS! Lots going on here. It’s canning season so I’ve been spending more time in the kitchen. Last week I processed a half bushel of Roma tomatoes into tomato sauce. And let’s not even get started on elder care! Semi- urgent medical situation that is being resolved, but required multiple doctor appointments to sort out. I did manage to sneak into the studio and shut out the world for a little while. Today’s project features the Cuddle Up stamp set and dies from Penny Black. Copic coloring video available below!

The image from the Cuddle Up stamp set was stamped on a piece of Spectrum Noir Ultra Smooth Cardstock using Memento Ink in Tuxedo Black. I colored it with Copic markers (see marker list and video below) and used the coordinating die to trim the image. I used one of the dies from the Stitches of Love die set to cut a piece of white card stock. Next, I selected the appropriate masking stencil from the Background Basics Stencil set and ink blended the background using Distress Inks in Bundled Sage and Tumbled Glass. With the masking stencil still in place, I stamped one of the tree images from the Scene Builder stamp set using Distress Archival Ink in Vintage Photo. I selected one of the sentiments from the Feeling of Christmas and stamped it with Versafine in Nocturne. Finally, I assembled the layers as shown.

Poinsettia | Penny Black

HEY FRIENDS! It’s time to get started on holiday cards so I have a full project for you today featuring the Poinsettia and Present stamp sets by Penny Black. Both sets have coordinating dies which makes cutting out the images much easier. I decided to use slightly non-traditional colors, although I’m seeing teal and red/pink more often. I love this combination since it’s not quite as contrasting as the usual red and green combination.

Today’s Project – Poinsettia

Rowhouse Greetings | Poinsettia by Penny Black

Featured Supplies

There’s a little bit of everything in this card — stamping, embossing, die cuts, Copic coloring — you name it! I trimmed a piece of white cardstock to 4″ x 5.25″ and placed a piece of Mint Low Tack Tape so that I could ink blend the left side of the panel with Distress Ink in Salvaged Patina. Afterwards, I lined up the plaid background from the Poinsettia set and stamped the image using Distress Archival Ink in Salvaged Patina to create a tone on tone look. Next I trimmed a piece of white cardstock with the Curvature die. I used the sides of the die cut to create a border along the masked edge to hide the line (see photo). Next, I used some of the foliage stamps from Poinsettia to stamp the edge as shown using Versafine Ink. I heat set the images with clear embossing powder.

For the right side of the panel, I randomly stamped the background using the Music Background stamp and Memento Ink in Toffee Crunch. Next, I die cut the present and poinsettia from Spectrum Noir Ultra Smooth Cardstock. Then I stamped the images with Memento Ink in Tuxedo Black and colored them with Copic markers (see list below).

I stamped some of the foliage directly onto the Present die cut using Distress Archival Inks in Vintage Photo, Evergreen Bough, and Peeled Paint. Once the ink was dry, I assembled the parts as shown.

VIDEO: Teddy Bouquet | Penny Black

HEY FRIENDS! I’m back from a relaxing spa vacation in Berkley Springs. We were celebrating my husband’s birthday, but somehow I got a spa pedicure, massage, and a body scrub out the deal. Today I’m back to work in the studio working on a coloring video featuring the Teddy Bouquet stamp set by Penny Black.

CARD: Little Guy (Sailboat) | Penny Black

Rowhouse Greetings | Little Guy by Penny Black

HEY FRIENDS! We are off to the wilds of West Virginia where I will plan on being rejuvenated at the spa in Berkley Springs. My husband’s birthday is also this week so we decided to take some time off from our usual day-to-day for a short getaway. So while I’m being pampered, I thought I’d share a card with you featuring the sailboat image from Little Guy stamp set by Penny Black. I colored the image and created a video (see below) a few months ago and I’m just getting around to turning it into a card.

I’ve linked all supplies with compensated affiliate links used where possible at no cost to you.

Today’s Project

Rowhouse Greetings | Little Guy by Penny Black

Featured Supplies

I stamped the image with Memento Ink in Tuxedo Black on X-Press It Blending Card. The image panel was trimmed to 4″ x 4.5″ and the image was colored with Copic markers (see video below). Once the image was colored, I added a thin strip of design paper at the top and bottom of the panel for interest.

I had a one-inch strip of scrap cardstock so I used it to stamp the sentiment from the Super Day stamp set using Versafine Clare in Nocturne. Once the ink was dry, I cut a fishtail in one end and added a scrap of red mirror card behind the resulting tag. I added foam squares to the back and adhered it to the card as shown.

OK – go get an adult beverage and some popcorn. It’s time to roll the video!
