Anita Jeram Art Is by Colorado Craft Company

HEY FRIENDS! I’m slowly getting caught up and I’ve been able to spend more time in my studio. Today I actually have a project and video that I created before Christmas that I’ve finally been able to edit and post. It’s a framed piece that I made for my brother as a Christmas gift, featuring the Anita Jeram Art Is stamp set by Colorado Craft Company. My brother paints portraits and landscapes in acrylic and oils, so I thought that he’d appreciate this adorable image by Anita Jeram. As always, I’ve linked supplies with compensated affiliate links used where possible at no cost to you.

Featured Products

  • Anita Jeram Art Is by Colorado Craft Company [ SBC | CCC | SSS ]
  • Copic marker coloring (see list below)
  • Additional supplies listed in the thumbnails below

I cut a piece of Hammermill cardstock to 5×7 inches and lightly traced in pencil the inside opening of the picture mat so that I would know where to stamp the image. The image was stamped using Hero Arts Intense Black Ink and colored with Copic markers. All coloring and assembly are shown in the video below.

A note about the frame — I used the Gunnabo 5×7 picture frame from IKEA. It appears that this frame is no longer carried by IKEA, but the Ribba 5×7 frame appears to be similar and may be a good substitute.

Mermaid & Penguins | 3C

HEY FRIENDS! I’ve got a little coloring nook in my bedroom right now with my markers, gel pens, stamps (including the 3C new release!), and other supplies so that I can color when I want. It’s conveniently positioned near the bed and I can alternate between coloring and resting as needed. Now I can keep myself busy coloring images ready to turn into cards once I’m able to spend more time in the studio. So for today, I have the new Mermaid & Penguins stamp set from the Colorado Craft Company release. I don’t usually color mermaids, but I’ve enjoyed this one. As always, I’ve linked supplies with compensated affiliate links used where possible at no cost to you.

The Mermaid & Penguins stamp set is a 6×6 inch image, but I only wanted to use a portion of it. as shown here. I stamped the image on a piece of Hammermill cardstock cut to 4.25″ x 5.5″ using Hero Arts Intense Black Ink. I decided in advance that I wanted a lot of texture in the background to represent bubbles. I colored a base layer starting from the bottom using B12, B00, and Y00, allowing the two colors to overlap slightly to create a shade of green. Then I went back and added a second layer working from the top down, using Y00, YG01, B00, B12 and B14 to smooth out the transitions between the colors. After the ink dried, I dampened a piece of terry cloth with colorless blender and lightly dabbed the background, lifting the ink and creating a spotted pattern. Once again, I allowed the ink to dry thoroughly and then colored the rest of the image. I used a white gel pen to enhance the splash effect, but it didn’t show up very well on the yellow background, so I added some gold gel pen for additional texture.

That’s all from me for today! See you again soon!

The Way of Water Release (3C) and an Update!

HEY FRIENDS! First of all, thank you for all of the well wishes. I’m still not fully mobile, but getting a little better each day. Ten more weeks of non-weight bearing activity – sigh! But this week marked a couple of milestones — my first post-surgery manicure, my first post-surgery haircut, and the first day of school for a class that I co-teach at Johns Hopkins University which I attended via Zoom.

I’ve also started coloring a little each day. I still tire easily, but coloring is my therapy and I can only hang out in bed for so long before it gets both monotonous and depressing. So when Amy Kennedy asked if I wanted to participate in the new Anita Jeram release, I jumped at the opportunity to get in a little color therapy. Be sure you read to the end – we’ve got a blog hop and giveaways that you’ll want to get in on!

Today’s Project

Anita Jeram Seas the Day | Colorado Craft Company

This release is a little different. We all know Anita Jeram for her adorable bunnies, mice and other critters, but this time she is taking us to new depths with mermaids and friends.

I selected the Seas the Day stamp set to create a little beach scene. I wish that I had been able to film the coloring because this was really outside of the box for me.

Landscapes are challenging, especially water and skies and this one features both. It took me a few tries just to get the beach the way I wanted it. But I just had to push through any trepedation for what might happen. Sometimes Copic coloring is just a hot mess until suddenly it all comes together and that’s what happened here.

Once the coloring was finished, I kept the rest of it simple, using the Stitches of Love die to create a decorative edge and stamping the sentiment with Versafine ink. I also used a white gel pen to add a little more splash to my waves!
