With a household of tuxedo cats, I knew that I just HAD to color this image. The hat is a bit of a challenge blending those reds (and keeping them from bleeding outside the lines) but a little care and patience does the trick. I put down a base coat of R17 to saturate the paper and then added R59 for shading. I extended the shading with R46 followed by R29 and then finished the gradient with R17. Red can be tricky to work. Since my blending still looked a little rough, I added a second layer of ink repeating each color. That really brought everything together and gave me the richness that I was trying to achieve.
Here’s a look at the inside, featuring a sentiment stamp from Paper Smooches.

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to come back tomorrow for another holiday card featuring the Penny Black hedgehog!
