Love Blooms | Penny Black

Rowhouse Greetings | Scatter Love by Penny Black

HEY FRIENDS! Another quick post today. Today I’m featuring one of the images from the Love Blooms stamp set by Penny Black. As you know I was recently asked to color images from the latest release and this is one of my favorites. The stamp set includes three simple floral sprigs as well as a sentiment — “ALL OF ME LOVES ALL OF YOU.”

As always, I’m grateful for Penny Black’s support and the opportunity to show you products that I love.

I stamped the image on Strathmore Series 300 Bristol using Memento Ink in Desert Sand. This ink is dark enough to see but light enough that you can cover the lines as you color. I colored the image with Copic markers (see list below). Then I used the Prismacolor colored pencils to add definition and detail that I just can’t get with a Copic marker.

I hardly ever do no-line coloring because I’m really pretty dependent on those black lines. And to be honest, I didn’t think this would turn out so I didn’t bother turning on the camera. However eliminating the black lines as well as sticking with a limited number of markers and colored pencils elevated my coloring to a different level. Certainly fooled me!

That’s all for today!

  1. Beautiful coloring by you, of course. I’m so glad to see you use a non-black outline for coloring! I have been using a Memento brown for outlines because I think it looks softer or occasionally like a theorem painting. Maybe we should call it “not quite no-line” coloring.

    1. “Not quite no-line” is much better! I have a hard time seeing the lines when I stamp in anything other than black so this was a bit of a struggle. I might have to switch to a brown.
