HEY FRIENDS! I’m still hopping with the gang at Colorado Craft Company so I’m back today with another new project featuring the Perfect Blend stamp set and coordinating dies. Kris Lauren is a new-to-me stamp artist, but as you know, I love cute images so I’ll be coloring up more of her images in the future. So take a look at what I have for you today!

The card design itself is pretty straight-forward although the Copic coloring is a little more complex. I probably should have turned on the camera to show you, but this one just evolved as I experimented with colors. And it’s probably just as well that the camera was off. I tell my students that Copic coloring is not paint by number. Remember when you got your first box of 64 Crayolas? Did you worry about blending groups? Did you look at the names or worry about numbers? No – you just picked a crayon and colored. So feel free to pick the colors you like, adjust the values along the way, and just have fun.

I’ve been loving these floral images by Kris Lauren. And honestly, they’re easy to color as well. You’ll see from the list below that I used a lot of markers, probably more than I usually would for an image this size. I just flick a few different shades on each petal, working from the center of the flower outward. I didn’t worry about blending – in fact, I want those flicks to show to add texture and interest. The result is a loose, water color effect that compliments the informal nature of the images.

HEY FRIENDS! I’m excited to help showcase the new May release for Colorado Craft Company. Today’s release includes five stamp sets and matching dies by designer Kris Lauren. Be sure to read through to the end for GIVEAWAY information and the links to the other designers in the participating in the new release.

Today, I’m featuring the new Floral Corners stamp set and coordinating dies. Kris Lauren is a new-to-me designer, but I loved the sweet and flowery images as well as the adorable mouse stamps included in this release (more about those mice an upcoming post!).

Today’s Project

Step by Step for Floral Corners

• Cut a sheet of Neenah Solar White #110 cardstock 4.25″ x 11″ and score at 5.5″ to create a top folding card. Set aside.
• Cut a sheet of design paper to 4″ x 5.25″. I used a sheet from the Potted Pattern Paper 6×6 pad by Catherine Pooler.
• Stamp the image from the Floral Corners stamp set by Colorado Craft Company on a Copic friendly paper and Copic compatible ink. I used Hammermill #100 cardstock and Hero Arts Intense Black ink.
• Color the image with Copic markers. The markers I used are listed below.
• Die cut the image using the Floral Corners Dies.
• Stamp the sentiment on white cardstock using Versafine Clare in Nocturne. Die cut the sentiment.
• Die cut the decorative circle from white cardstock using the This Way Round die set by Catherine Pooler.
• Assemble layers as shown.
