NEW VIDEO: Enchantingly by Penny Black

HEY FRIENDS! Just a quick post today. I intended on having a video for you on Monday for the Enchantingly image from Penny Black. However, technology failed me. So I colored it again — proving that I can’t color an image the same way twice. But I hope the video better explains the use of B34 under the red and green markers for very basic underpainting.

Enchantingly by Penny Black

HEY FRIENDS! I was beyond excited when Penny Black, Inc. invited me to color images from their new Cherish 2025 Collection. I even have an email from Jill Foster that I might have to frame and hang in my studio! I’ve followed Penny Black for years and loved so many of the images colored by the designers so now it’s truly a privilege to have the chance to color for a brand that I love.

Today I’m featuring the Enchantingly stamp set which includes a large floral bouquet, a single flower stem and a sentiment.

I’ve linked supplies below with compensated affiliate links used where possible at no cost to you.

You might be confused by that B34 marker in the list when there is no obvious blue coloring in the image. I used it to underpaint the darkest areas. For example, I used B34 in the darkest area of the leaves and went over it and a little beyond with YG17. Then I finished the blend with YG03. Same for the petals — a little B34 to start in the darkest areas followed by R35, R32, and R30.

HEY FRIENDS! Had an hour or so in the studio this morning before I had to get on with the day. This stamp set has been sitting on my desk for quite awhile waiting to be noticed. So today was the day! This is one of the many images from the Snowman Hugs stamp set by Penny Black. Copic markers are listed below as well as another video. Enjoy!

HEY FRIENDS! We had a quiet New Year’s Day so I spent it in the studio for a little coloring session. As many of you know, I’m immersed in elder care. Mom and Dad are doing OK right now and we’ve been blessed with a wonderful caregiver for them. So my spare time these past weeks were spent getting ready for the holidays. We put up a tree this year and I did all of the gift shopping and wrapping. We managed to fit in a quick getaway this past weekend to St. Michael’s where my husband marched in the Christmas parade. Somehow in the midst of all of this, we completed a major renovation on the front of the house — the rowhouse of Rowhouse Greetings — and redecorated the living room and dining room with new rugs and slipcovers. Still needs fresh paint but that’s for another day. We had twelve at the house for Christmas Eve and took my parents out to dinner on Christmas Day. Holiday cards fell through the cracks this year and none were sent. Better luck next year!

To be honest, I don’t have the mental bandwidth right now to create cards. I’ve decided to skip cardmaking and just color up some images. Today I’m coloring an image from the Bundled stamp set by Penny Black. I turned on the camera and recorded a new Copic coloring video for this image. You’ll see that I’ve been experimenting with underpainting and I’ve gone back to using X-Press It Blending Card. I realized that I picked up some bad habits coloring on Hammermill so I’m working on improving my technique while also introducing new skills into my coloring.

The Star | Penny Black

HEY FRIENDS! I’m back today with another new project featuring products by Penny Black. Today, I used The Star stamp set and the Diagonal embossing folder to create a fun holiday card.

This layout is a little different for me because I don’t usually use embossing folders in my card designs. I’m not sure why — I have a bunch of them so maybe this will prompt me to use them more often. Here I used the Diagnonal Embossing Folder and cut the embossed panel on the diagonal as well. It added a fun bit of texture to the front without making the final card feel too bulky or heavy.

I’ve entered this card in the following challenges:
