New Online Class: Merry & Bright

HEY FRIENDS! I just posted a new online Copic class on my blog. In this class you’ll create three holiday cards featuring stamps by My Favorite Things. New to Copics? Don’t have a lot of markers? Need holiday cards but don’t have a lot of time? Then this is the class for you! CLASS FEE $26

Participation requires the purchase of a pre-made kit from Photo Scraps. Either stop by the store to purchase your kit, or call Tracy at 410-549-5187 to have a kit sent to you. The class URL and password are provided in your kit.

  • Any Level
  • Prerequisite: none
  • Class includes two videos. The first shows you how to color the images and the second shows you how to assemble the cards.

Class Supplies

Below are the supplies that I will be using in this class. For this class, I highly recommend that you use the same markers. In the coloring video, we will be doing a technique called underpainting and your results may be unpredictable if you stray too far from the colors I selected.

COPIC MARKERS: The list below reflects the markers that I will use for in class. I kept the color palette simple so that I could limit the number of markers.

ADDITIONAL SUPPLIES: You will also need the following –

  • Card kit purchased from Photo Scraps
  • Clear Wink of Stella by ZIG
  • Strong glue to adhere layers. I suggest Beacon’s 3-in-1 Craft Adhesive.
  • White glue that dries clear. I will be using Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive.
  • Foam tape or foam squares (such as Gina K. Designs Foam Squares or Scrapbook Adhesives 3-D Squares). I was out of foam squares at the time of filming so I used Foam Sticky Strips from Taylored Expressions.
  • T-Square ruler (optional)

Nostalgic Season by Catherine Pooler Designs

HEY FRIENDS! So today I have some crafting news as well as a new card!

ScrapbookPal Design Team Member

So my news is that I applied and was accepted as a new Design Team member over at, an online craft supply store located here in the United States. They carry a wide variety of the latest stamps, dies, and inks. If you are a Copic marker enthusiast, they have great prices on the markers AND the refills. So take a look, especially if you need Copic supplies.

Saturday was my first project and blog post for and my project featured the Nostalgic Season stamp set by Catherine Pooler Designs. For that project, I used the coordinating dies and the coloring was all done using Catherine Pooler inks. Since the stamps were still sitting on my crafting table, I decided to make another card, this time using my Copic markers to color the outline images. As always, I’ve linked the supplies below with compensated affiliate links used where possible at no cost to you.

This was one of those late night projects that just sort of evolved along the way. I started by stamping the border from the Garland Borders stamp set across the top of my card with Amalagm Ink in Obsidian by Gina K. Designs. I colored the border image with Copic markers (see list below). I was going to use the multi-layered stamps in the Nostalgic Season set for the stockings, but realized that I didn’t have any ink pads that would coordinate with the colors I used in the border. At that point I decided to just use the outline stamp and color the stocking with the same pattern that I would have gotten if I had used the layering stamps.

Those of you who have been with me for awhile know that I can’t draw a straight line with a ruler, so I was a little apprehensive about coloring the stockings freehand. But to be honest, it’s not a difficult pattern to replicate and I think I pulled it off pretty well! I used a white gel pen to complete the design.

I knew I wanted to color the sentiment so I had to use a Copic safe ink rather than Versafine, which is my usual go-to for stamping sentiments. I created a gradient effect on the letters by shading from dark (at the base of the letters) to light using R14, R24, and R46.
