GOOD MORNING FRIENDS! Just a quick post today. I’ve not been doing much Copic coloring lately and I’m getting a little rusty. When I was working, I colored every evening, but now that I’m retired, there are so many other things capture my time and attention. So I decided that I needed to dedicate some time again for coloring so that my hand would keep it’s muscle memory!

Our household includes three tuxedo cats so I’m always on the lookout for fun feline images. And this image captures the personalities of our cats. Poppy in particular would love to be able to take selfies!
I’m about to brave the cold (a blustery 28 degrees!) and go visit my parents so that’s all for me today. See you soon!

GOOD MORNING FRIENDS! I’m back today with a new card featuring the Hyacinth Bulb in Glass Digital Stamp by Power Poppy. As you can see, I’m finally moving away from holiday cards and starting to color spring flowers again.

My style tends to be clean and simple although lately I’ve been experimenting with more complex designs. However, I wanted this image to be front and center without distraction so I stuck to a relatively simple layout.
And be sure you take a look at the Power Poppy projects from my teammates in the Bloom Brigade!

GOOD MORNING FRIENDS! Today I’ve got another card using the same technique to stamp an image with Copic markers. This time I’m featuring the cling stamp Dreams of Love by Penny Black which features a beautiful old fashioned rose. Since I explained the how-tos of this technique in a previous post, I’m going to link to it to save time.
Once the main image was complete, I inked the Vintage Postcard stamp from Penny Black with Versafine Clare ink in Fallen Leaves and stamped the image. The sentiment is from the Million Thanks stamp set also by Penny Black and it was stamped with Versafine Clare ink in Nocturne.
Hope you found some inspiration. Thanks for stopping by and I’ll see you again soon!

GOOD MORNING FRIENDS! Just a short post — lots of things on my to do list today. But I wanted to share a card I made recently featuring the cling stamp Together by Penny Black. Usually these stamps are colored using dye inks, watercolors or water based markers. But I like to color and stamp them using my Copic markers.
The short explanation of the technique is that I place the stamp in my Misti and color directly on the stamp with my Copic markers. I lightly misted the cardstock with Colorless Blender and then stamp the image. The Colorless Blender reactivates the ink on the stamp and leaves and impression on the paper. I explained the how-tos of this technique in a previous post so I’m going to link to it to save time.
I’ve found that the key to getting a clear image is using Spectrum Noir cardstock instead of X-Press It for the paper. Other paper may work, but I had Spectrum Noir in my stash. And while I used Colorless Blender to reactivate the ink, isopropyl alcohol may work as well, but I didn’t test it. All Copic refills, including Colorless Blender, are hard to find right now so you may need to try isopropyl. Spritz the blender lightly on the paper – I found that the small Ranger Mini Misters were perfect for this technique. Just be sure that you are working in an area with good ventilation.
The design of the card was influenced by a card made for Penny Black by designer Jill Foster. Of course, I can’t find the card now to link to it, but the idea of the blue inked background and the creating the frame from the Simple Stackers die came from her. For my background, I lightly blended from corner to corner using Distress Ink in Salty Ocean.
The sentiment was stamped with Versafine Clare and heat set with clear embossing powder.
Hope you found some inspiration. Thanks for stopping by and I’ll see you again soon!

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE! It seems like forever since I’ve seen those of you who are local. Like many of you, we are sheltering in place and hoping that better (and sunnier) days will be here soon. Especially since our kitchen roof sprung a leak this morning in the midst of all this rain.
Sheltering in place is a lot like retirement, except that I have more toilet paper. And like retirement, I thought my house would be a lot cleaner now that I don’t get diverted by running errands or visiting friends. And I have even more time to craft….
However, the past few days it seems like nothing I’ve colored has turned out the way I wanted. I’ve torn up a lot of failed colored images. Some days are like that although I’ll admit that I’ve had several in a row now. So I decided to ditch my Copics for a few days (GASP!) and play with some other mediums.
As some of you know, I’m a frustrated watercolorist, but this seems like the wrong time to give that another shot. But I do understand Distress Inks — how they react with water and how the colors blend. So I pulled out a Power Poppy stamp set that I recently purchased and decided to see what happens.
I stamped the image on Distress Ink Watercolor Paper using Versafine Clare ink. I immediately covered the ink with clear embossing powder and heat set the image. From there, I pulled out a water brush and a variety of Distress Inks and got to work. Since the image was embossed, I had little trouble staying within the lines so I could apply the color rather loosely. I smushed some ink onto my glass mat (a silicone mat works just as well) and picked up the color with the water brush. I had to play with the colors a bit because using the water brush diluted the ink. By using a combination of layers of color and varying the ratio of ink to water, I was able to get a variety of shades.
I also tried not to overthink the coloring. This was just meant to be a no pressure, easy going, and fun craft project.
It’s a rainy, gloomy day here so hopefully this project brought some sunshine your way! Thanks for stopping by!
