The Star | Penny Black

HEY FRIENDS! I’m back today with another new project featuring products by Penny Black. Today, I used The Star stamp set and the Diagonal embossing folder to create a fun holiday card.

I’ve linked all supplies with compensated affiliate links used where possible at no cost to you.

This layout is a little different for me because I don’t usually use embossing folders in my card designs. I’m not sure why — I have a bunch of them so maybe this will prompt me to use them more often. Here I used the Diagnonal Embossing Folder and cut the embossed panel on the diagonal as well. It added a fun bit of texture to the front without making the final card feel too bulky or heavy.

I’ve entered this card in the following challenges:

HEY FRIENDS! Things have calmed down a bit here on the home front. I’m trying to get back into the studio to do some coloring. CARD 1 – Snowman and Friends

Rowhouse Greetings | Heartwarming by Penny Black

To start, I stamped the snowman image from the Heartwarming stamp set on a piece of X-Press It cardstock using Hero Arts Intense Black Ink. Next, I colored the image with Copic markers (see list). Using the A2 Layers die set, I trimmed the image panel as well as panels created from Lipstick Red cardstock and Desert Storm cardstock. I used the Joyful die to cut the sentiment from a scrap of Lipstick Red cardstock and a scrap of vellum for the sentiment. Finally, I adhered all of the layers to an A2 card base as shown to finish off the card.

SIZE: A2
COPICS: R20, E51, E53, E55, E57 (bear); B000, B91, B93, B95, B97 (bear’s scarf, hat & boots); Y35, Y38, YR07 (carrot); R24, R46, R59 (snowman’s scarf, hat & buttons); B93, B95, B97 (snowman’s ear muffs); R20, B000, B91 (bird); E55, E57, E59 (stool & branch); R21, R22, R24 (flower); R24, R46, B93, B95, B97 (gifts); B0000, B000, BG10 (snow)

Card 2 – Penguin

Rowhouse Greetings | Heartwarming by Penny Black

For my second card, I stamped the penguin image on a piece of X-Press It cardstock using Hero Arts Intense Black Ink. As before, I colored the image with Copic markers (see list) and trimmed the panel using the A2 Layers die set. For something different, I decided to inset the sentiment so I used the A2 Layers die set to cut the sentiment directly into the image panel. I applied a piece of double sided adhesive to the back of the cutout and inlaid the sentiment which was cut from blue mirror cardstock. I added a 1/4″ strip of design paper along the bottom of the image panel. Next, I cut an piece of Gravel Gray cardstock to 4.25 inches x 5.5 inches. Finally, I adhered all of the layers to an A2 card base as shown to finish off the card.

SIZE: A2
COPICS: C3, C5, C7 (penguin); Y35, Y38, YR07, YR09 (beak & feet); R00 (face & belly accents); B000, B06, B18, B99 (hat & scarf)

Stamptember! Work of Art | 3C & SSS

HEY FRIENDS! I know it’s been pretty quiet here lately on the blog. As some of you know, my elderly mother fell last month and fractured her skull. So our days are consumed by elder care, making sure that mom has appropriate medical care while maintaining the in-home care that Dad needs. It’s been overwhelming to say the least, but I think that we finally have a game plan for their care once mom is discharged from the rehab later this month.

However, I put everyone on hold and took the phone off the hook when my Stamptember® package for Colorado Craft Company arrived from Simon Says Stamp. This year’s Stamptember® Celebration features an new Anita Jeram stamp called Work of Art. As you’ll see below, I combined stenciling with Copic coloring to create a fun scene.

If this is your first rodeo with Stamptember®, here’s how it works. Simon Says Stamp creates collaborations with multiple stamps companies and each day during the month of September, a new company is featured and the stamp set for that collaboration is released. However, the stamps are only available while supplies last so if you want a particular stamp set, you have to order it right away else it might sell out. Once that happens, it’s gone for good. No do overs! So if you want this year’s featured stamp set by Colorado Craft Company, be sure you order today!

The images from the Work of Art stamp set were stamped on Strathmore Smooth Bristol Series 500 with Hero Arts Intense Black Ink. You can use Series 300 which is cheaper, but I prefer Series 500. I colored the image with Copic markers (see list below). For the clouds, I used the Cloud Stencil from My Favorite Things and Distress Ink in Tumbled Glass with the new Tim Holtz Tiny Blending Tools. Finally, I stamped the sentiment using Versafine Clair in Nocturne.

That’s all for now!

Anita Jeram Santa Bunny | Colorado Craft Company

HEY FRIENDS! I’m back today with another holiday card featuring the Anita Jeram Santa Bunny stamp set by Colorado Craft Company. This is one of my favorite stamp sets so I’ve colored it a few times in the past. But we’re approaching a new holiday season so it’s time to pull it out again.

I trimmed a piece of Strathmore Bristol Series 300 with one of the dies from the A2 Layers Die set by Waffle Flower. Next I stamped the image using Hero Arts Intense Black ink and colored the image with Copic markers (see list below). I stamped the sentiment on a scrap of Bristol using Versafine ink. In my original design, I stamped the image panel directly, but subsequently smeared the ink. So I created a fishtail tag and stamped the sentiment on that. I used the next size of die from the Layers set to create a coordinating panel. I have a assortment pack from Concord & 9th which comes in handy when you need a solid coordinating color. I cut an A2 panel from Red Hot cardstock by MFT Stamps and an A2 top folding card base from Neenah Classic Crest. Finally I assembled the layers as shown.

That’s all for today!
