HELLO FRIENDS! It’s a rainy Memorial Day weekend here so outside activities will be limited. I celebrated my birthday a couple of weeks ago and my parents and husband bought me a new bike as my gift. It’s a foldable bike so it’s perfect for my limited storage and fits easily in the back of my Mini Cooper. I’ve been riding around the neighborhood and thought that I’d get in some extra mileage this weekend, but the weather is putting a damper on those plans.

My studio is a cluttered mess so I need to spend some time this weekend organizing my space. I own at least two or three of everything so it’s time to go through my craft supplies and decide what stuff I’ll really use. I had embossing powders spanning the entire rainbow that I never use because I prefer pairing a pigment ink with clear embossing powder. I pared my stash down to the essentials – clear, white, and metallics. So giving up all of the colorful powders was an easy decision and they are now living happily with my friend Gretchen.
I’ve mentioned recently that I have three full sets of colored pencils – Prismacolor Premier, Faber-Castell Polychromos, and Caran d’Ache Luminance. I’ve been playing with the Prismacolors lately, but decided to pull out my Polychromos and give them a try. I’m still using Stonehenge Drawing Paper and I think that’s going to be my go-to paper for colored pencils.
I’ve been on a roll coloring images from My Favorite Things, so I pulled out my favorite Santa Claus image from the Jingle All the Way stamp set. This set is currently retired, but MFT regularly pulls sets back out of the vault so keep an eye out if you don’t already have this set.
Enough gabbing! Here’s today’s project!

I’ve noticed that I tend to simplify my card design when I use colored pencils. Just the image and a sentiment. Stonehenge Drawing Paper has a beautiful, subtle texture that enhances the image so my inclination is to let the paper, image, and pencilwork shine on its own.
That’s all for me today!
