Eat More Cake | Colorado Craft Company

HEY FRIENDS! Today I have another project featuring the Kris Lauren Eat More Cake stamp set. I created a quick background using an embossing folder and used the stamp set’s coordinating die to add more dimension to the design.

I’ve linked all supplies with compensated affiliate links used where possible at no cost to you.

I stamped the image from the Eat More Cake stamp set on a panel of Hammermill using Hero Arts Intense Black ink. The image was colored using Copic markers (see list below). Once the coloring was complete, I trimmed the panel using the Eat More Cake coordinating dies. I applied foam adhesive squares to the back of the cake panel and set it aside. For the background, I cut another A2 panel of white cardstock and used a retired embossing folder in my stash from We R Memory Keepers (now We R Makers), leaving the bottom inch outside of the folder so that it would not be embossed. I stamped the sentiment along the bottom using Versafine ink. Afterwards, I assembled the layers as shown.

That’s all for today!

Confection Collection | Colorado Craft Company

HEY FRIENDS! I’m back today with a project featuring the new Confection Collection release by Colorado Craft Company featuring birthday and related baking images by Kris Lauren. I did some tricky (but fun) merging of two stamp sets – Piece of Cake and Eat More Cake. When I saw these squirrels, I knew that I had to create a cake assembly line! Included below are the details for the blog hop and giveaways so be sure you stick around to the end of the post!

I’ve linked all supplies with compensated affiliate links used where possible at no cost to you.

Note that a limited number of release bundles are available — see supply list below.

In other news — don’t forget that I’m having a crafty destash sale. Check out the details! Two boxes are still available.

I don’t merge and mask images very often because it requires more patience than I generally possess, but I could see this card in my mind and masking was the only way to make it work. First, I stamped the center squirrel using Hero Arts Intense Black ink. I masked the center squirrel and stamped the cake and the squirrel on the left. Next, I masked off the area for the grass and blended it with Simon Says Stamp Positively Saturated Ink in Sprout. I used the MFT Stamps cloud stencil with Positively Saturated Ink in Tidepool to create the clouds. Then, I stamped the sentiment using Versafine and colored all the images with Copics (see list below). The squirrel in the foreground was much easier since I could use the Piece of Cake coordinating dies. Finally, I assembled all the layers as shown.

Adventures with Friends | 3C

HEY FRIENDS! I’m back today with the new Adventures with Friends release from Colorado Craft Company. This release features images by Kris Lauren. As you can see from the banner, this release includes lots of cute animals, but I was drawn to the daisy stamps, so here’s a quick card that I put together that requires no coloring at all! Included below are the details for the blog hop and giveaways so be sure you stick around to the end of the post!

Coloring Notes

I’m not sure why I labeled this coloring notes because there’s no coloring! To start, I created an A2 top folding cardbase from Neenah Solar White cardstock. Next, I trimmed a piece of Hammermill Smooth Cardstock to 4″ x 5.25″ using the Nesting Rectangle Infinity Dies from Hero Arts. I masked the right side of the panel, covering approximately 1.75″ with Mint Tape. I stamped the Daisy Background stamp on the left side of the panel using Versafine Ink. I removed the mask and glued a narrow piece of Licorice cardstock to cover the transition between the two areas. On the right side, I stamped the sentiment from the Wild and Free stamp set using Versafine Ink. Once the ink was dry, I assembled the layers as shown.

Easy Watercoloring with Tombow Markers

HEY FRIENDS! As you know, my creativity has been in a bit of a slump lately. I have lots to work with so BUYING isn’t my issue, but USING certainly is! But on Saturday, I did a demo at The Paper Herald — a gem of a stationery store here in Baltimore owned by my friend Ashleigh — and that has sparked my creativity again. I pulled out my Tombow Dual Brush Markers and a waterbrush as well as assorted stamp sets from Colorado Craft Company.

I’ve linked all supplies with compensated affiliate links used where possible at no cost to you.

For my first card, I used the Peas Forgive Me stamp set. You can see a somewhat awkward video of me coloring the image while I was at The Paper Herald. I even managed to stamp my hand with the Versafine ink pad! Be kind – it was my FIRST Solo Instagram live video. If you’re unable to see it below, try THIS LINK.

Once I was back in my studio, I was inspired to color another Colorado Craft Company image. This time I used the Anita Jeram Happy Day stamp set.

Coloring Notes

As you’ll see, I kept the layouts simple — both cards are just single layers made from Canson XL Watercolor Paper that I cut to 4.25″ x 11″ to create a top folding card. I stamped the images with Versafine Ink in Onyx Black. I love this ink because it’s perfect for detailed images and sentiments AND it’s waterproof. I applied some of the color directly with Tombow markers and then blended it out with a waterbrush. It all, it took 15-20 minutes per card to complete. And by keeping the layout so simple, I was able to complete the cards without a lot of fuss agonizing over the design.

Coloring Notes

I have to admit that I was a bit intimidated by coloring the shed and it’s probably not my best effort. However, I think the concept is pretty good even if my execution could use some work. I wanted the wood to have some texture so I stamped the image onto Strathmore Bristol Smooth (300 Series). Why? Well, I needed a paper that could handle both Copics and colored pencils. While X-Press It or Hammermill could handle the Copics, neither paper is suitable for colored pencils. So I switched to Bristol since it’s smooth enough for Copics, but has enough tooth for colored pencil. I put down a base coat of W1 on the shed, adding W3 in the areas that I wanted to be a bit darker. I added BV20 to create shadows. Then I used Prismacolor pencils PC1052 (30% Warm Grey), PC1072 (50% French Grey), and PC1076 (90% French Grey) to draw in the lines to add texture. I got carried away with making my lines very straight and very consistent. But from a distance, you get the effect (I hope!).

That’s all for today!
