Oh My Whiskers by Honey Bee Stamps

GOOD MORNING FRIENDS! I’m back today with a card from Honey Bee Stamps, but this post will be short and sweet since I’ve got a busy day ahead of me. I promised that I would take my parents shopping and out to lunch this afternoon. Getting them in and out of the car, up and down curbs, in and out of stores, and generally keeping track of them is somewhat akin to herding cats so I have my work cut out for me!

As my wallet can attest, I’ve developed an addiction to Honey Bee Stamps. So when I saw the Oh My Whiskers stamp set in the new releases, I knew that I had to have it. When you have a household of cats, you can never have to many cat themed stamps. Or at least, that’s what I tell myself.

I colored the image with Copic markers on Spectrum Noir cardstock. Although I prefer X-PressIt Blending Card for Copic coloring, I don’t really like the gray undertone in the paper so I selected a whiter cardstock. When I was coloring, I debated making the balloons translucent, but decided that I wanted the pop of color from making them more opaque. I added a few enamel dots in coordinating colors and called it a day.

Hope you found some inspiration. Thanks for stopping by and I’ll see you again soon!

Just Because

GOOD MORNING FRIENDS! We had beautiful weather for Easter Sunday – bright and sunny with a light breeze. We spent the day with my parents. I picked up carry out from Outback Steakhouse and then we spent the day putting together puzzles and playing games. Carryout for Easter dinner would have been sacrilegious in my family in the past, but this way, we all got to enjoy the day with no one stuck in the the kitchen preparing a big meal.

As you can see, I’m still in love the bees from Honey Bee Stamps. This simple idea popped into my head, in part inspired by the “think pink” theme for Buzzworthy Challenge still going on until the end of the month. I masked off a vertical stripe on my card and stenciled the cloud pattern with distress inks. I stamped the sentiment with Versafine in and heat set it with clear embossing powder. I added the bees as well as a slightly studied but still mostly random selection of dew drop embellishments.

Honey Bee Stamps Buzzworthy Challenge #27

GOOD AFTERNOON EVERYONE! I got a late start on posting today’s project. I had to dash off to the dealership because the service light came on in the car. Luckily it was just a warning that it was time for an oil change and some other mileage related maintenance. I squeezed in a little shopping and a lunch out before heading back home and finishing up my card.

Today’s card is my entry for Honey Bee Stamps Buzzworthy Challenge #27. In case you couldn’t guess, the theme is pink! At first, I was tempted to throw everything pink in my stash at this card – inks, embossing powder, cardstock, embellishments, Copics, embellishment mousse – but decided to dial back my Barbie pink enthusiasm and just make a few choice selections!

I had some soft pink cardstock in my stash so I used it as a neutral background and built from there. I knew that I would use the Spring Blossoms stamp set so I let the flowers take front and center and made everything else (i.e. stencil, sentiments and embellishments) complement the flowers rather than compete with them.

Bees and more bees from Honey Bee Stamps

GOOD MORNING FRIENDS! Today is check on the parents day so I’ll be out of here shortly to pick up their groceries and take them out to lunch. So I carved out some time this morning to put together a quick and easy card. And when it comes to quick and easy, I turn to Honey Bee Stamps!

I start by die cutting a piece of cardstock for my background layer with the Zig Zag Rectangle die from Lawn Fawn. I stamped the sentiment from the Small Gang stamp with Versafine ink and heat set it with clear embossing powder. The background was stenciled with Distress Inks and set aside to dry. I had a few bees left from Saturday’s card so I supplement them with some of the smaller bees from the Bee Hive stamp set. The bees color up quickly so I just adhered them with foam squares and added a few embellishments. Well, more than a few. Might have overdone the sequins, but I loved the combination.

OK – I’m outta here! It’s pizza day, so I can’t keep my parents waiting!
