All you need is love (again)!

We’ve been very remiss in sending a thank you to my mother-in-law for the Christmas gift that she sent us. She sent it mid-January, so we’re not as late as it sounds, but we should have at least acknowledge receipt of the package. Since I had to do this quickly, I re-purposed an earlier card design because it was quick and easy to make.

And voila! A thank you note is born!

In honor of Valentine’s Day, I just wanted to share the card that I made today for my husband. It features Amanda and Maxwell in House Mouse Designs rubber stamp Tails of True Love. I accidentally picked up the wrong Copic markers, coloring the skin with R000, R00, and R21 instead of my usual skin combination of E000, E00, and R21. So the mice are a little pinker than usual, but afterall, it IS Valentine’s Day!

On a day that commemorates love, the inside sentiment holds particular meaning for us. My husband is a long time fan of the Beatles. He wore his favorite Sgt. Pepper’s tie at our wedding and his wedding band is engraved with the words “All you need is love.”

The layout was inspired by a card designed by Stamp a Blessing. Instructions for creating a flip card with the By DieZyne Half Circle die are available at Passionate Paper Creations. Since my base paper was 12×12, I trimmed the cardstock to 5.5 x 12 inches and scored it at 2 1/8 inches, 4.25 inches and 8.5 inches. The two background patterned papers were cut to 4 x 5.25 inches each and I embossed the third section of the cardstock.

I ran out of X-Press paper for coloring with Copics, so I tried using Neenah 110 pound cardstock that I happened to have. I don’t think that I’d use it for a project with Copics, but it’s OK for testing color combinations and trying out a new stamp.
