Forget-Me-Not

Power Poppy | Forget Me Not HeartTime for another digital release from Power Poppy. This time it’s a different kind of remixed image — a heart made from a strand of Forget-Me-Nots based on an image from Soothing Sympathy, one of the new clear stamp sets. We have Julie Koerber to thank for the new release. She begged Marcella to remix this lovely sprig of forget-me-nots into the shape of a heart that could be easily cut with a heart die.

The new release – Forget Me Not Heart –  comes with two sentiments, and with the heart alone as well as with the Thank You sentiment placed inside. It’s rare that Power Poppy releases such a simple image in digital format, but it’s a quick and simple image to color. So quick that you can put together a lovely card in a matter of minutes.

Altenew_Inspiration-Challenge_AprilThe photo at left is the inspiration for Altenew’s April Inspiration Challenge. I was inspired by the colors — particularly since it’s a combination that I don’t usually think of. I used the Beautiful Day stamp set by Altenew and love how the different stamps in this set can be used together to create a multi-colored flower or separately as background elements. To finish, I added a sentiment from Penny Black stamped on a die cut banner by Avery Elle to mimic a bit of the shape and texture in the inspiration photo.

Sunflower Power!

I love a good card challenge, especially when it’s being sponsored by one of my favorite artists — Marcella Hawley of Power Poppy. Some day maybe I can be a member of her Bloom Brigade, but until then, I’ll have to be content with being one of her many fans.

This weekend the celebration is over at the Passionate Paper Creations Facebook Group — a specially priced digital stamp and a coloring contest. Don’t miss out on the fun!

Once again I used my Cameo Silhouette  to cut out the digital stamp and to print and cut the stitched background and sentiment. I originally planned on using pop dots to raise the sunflower off the previous layer, but realized that the leaves and bud would be unstable and prone to tearing. So I adhered the sunflower to the stitched background and then used pop dots to raise the combined layer, giving additional depth and dimension to the card.

Thank You for Your Service

Several months ago, I created a military homecoming card using Mo Manning’s Soldier Boy and Lazy Mutt digital images. My friend Jess recently asked if I could remake the card, adding a second child to the montage. I knew that the only way this would really work was to add another child in some sort of military garb. Luckily, Mo also has a set of sailor boys and this one from the set fit in perfectly. I used a different image from the Lazy Dog set so that everyone would fit together better. I have to admit that I love the final result.
