Do What Makes You Happy!

This image by Mo’s Digital Pencil always makes me smile. It’s fun to color and the end result is always cheery. I needed some multi-purposed cards (thank you, thinking of you, just because, etc.) so I left the card blank on the inside to allow for a personalized message to fit the occasion.

Last week was my birthday so as a gift my husband paid for me to attend four Copics card and technique classes held this weekend at PhotoScraps in Eldersburg, Maryland. The classes were taught by the incomparable Rhea Weigand whose passion for working with Copics comes through in her classes.  I had lots of A-Ha! moments especially for coloring flowers and folds and pleats in clothing. Using some of the techniques from this weekend’s classes, I put together a thank you card for Rhea, who has truly taught me how to bloom!

Thank you Rhea for sharing your talent with us! And a special thank you to Tracy Beck of PhotoScraps for hosting the classes and supporting the amazing group of local crafters that I had the privilege to meet this weekend.

Newton’s Nook is my new stamp addiction! Lots of cute images and they stamp cleanly — no blurred or broken lines. The style is simple and perfect for CAS cards.  And speaking of clean and simple, I struggle with backgrounds. All that bright white behind the images seems so — well, white! Jennifer Dove’s tutorial on coloring backgrounds and grounding the image has lots of great suggestions.

We’ve been very remiss in sending a thank you to my mother-in-law for the Christmas gift that she sent us. She sent it mid-January, so we’re not as late as it sounds, but we should have at least acknowledge receipt of the package. Since I had to do this quickly, I re-purposed an earlier card design because it was quick and easy to make.

And voila! A thank you note is born!
