GOOD MORNING FRIENDS! Nothing on my calendar today so today is a day to do whatever I want whenever I want to do it. So this will be a post and run as I decide on today’s adventure. We’ve been working on cleaning up the backyard and getting it ready for summertime fun, so I suspect that we’ll be exploring local nurseries today to start picking out flowers. Before I run off, I just wanted to add my entry for Newton’s Nook Inky Paws Challenge #95 which is a challenge to create a project using the sketch shown here. I recently purchased two kitchen/cooking themed stamp sets from Newton’s Nook — Newton’s Kitchen and Made From Scratch — so I decided to feature them in my project.
I started my project by cutting a piece of 80# cardstock with the Scalloped Rectangle Stackable die from Lawn Fawn as the base for my background. Next, I used Versafine ink to stamp and heat embossed the images from the Made From Scratch stamp to create a background pattern. Following the sketch, I adhered a scrap of gingham paper across the background. I cut a second piece of 80# cardstock with a fishtail banner die from MFT Stamps and stamped and heat embossed the sentiment. The cat image was stamped on a piece of Spectrum Noir cardstock with GKD Amalgam Ink and colored with Copic markers. Once the layers were assembled, I added a few enamel dots to finish off my card.
Hope you found some inspiration. Thanks for stopping by and I’ll see you again soon!

GOOD MORNING FRIENDS (and happy Monday!) I’ve been on a roll recently creating cards. The reality is that I should be designing cards for upcoming classes — which I really AM doing! — but I like to intersperse my classwork with stamp sets and paper that are beckoning from my stash.
I was inspired by this card sketch from Sweet Sunday and in particular, the card by Lori Tecler of Inking Aloud because of the clean lines. I also recently purchased both the Newton’s Kitchen stamp set by Newton’s Nook Designs and the Ingredient 8 x 8 paper pad by Authentique (affiliate link). So in the end, I had plenty of fun options for designing a cooking / kitchen themed card.
Since I had a card sketch to work with, I went ahead and planned out the paper selection first so that I would have a color scheme for my Copic coloring. I like using the smaller pads because the patterns are scaled down for card making and a busy pattern won’t overpower a simple stamp in the way that the same pattern would scaled to 12 x 12 paper. I had a scrap piece of vellum that I die cut into a circle to put behind the stamped image to help tone down the colors and pattern in the card design. I stamped the sentiment with Versafine and immediately covered it with clear embossing powder to add a little shine.
With the card design out of the way, all that was left to do was the coloring and fussy cutting (with my Scan and Cut!). Here’s the finished card.
Hope you found some inspiration. Thanks for stopping by and I’ll see you again soon!

GOOD AFTERNOON FRIENDS! I’m still procrastinating when it comes designing cards for my April classes. Instead, we took a day trip yesterday to the Gettysburg National Military Park, visiting the museum and diorama. Afterwards, we had a fabulous candlelight lunch at the Dobbins House Tavern and visited family in town. Although the weather was cool, the day was bright and sunny and it felt good to take time to blow away all the mental cobwebs.
After we got home, I played with my stash of new stamps, which includes a few of the new releases from Newton’s Nook Designs. For this card, I used one of the images from the Woodland Spring stamp set. I was inspired by a card created by Tatiana Trafimovich, but pared the design down even more. I recently colored the lamb in the Spring Pile Up stamp set so I decided to use the same pointillism technique here, but switched to shades of gray instead of browns. I added a few crystal jewels from Pretty Pink Posh for a little bling.
I’m playing along with the Inky Paws Challenge #93 – Think Spring. Take a look at the challenge blog for information and to see the other entries.
