Bowl of Beauty by Power Poppy

Bowl of Beauty by Power Poppy

GOOD MORNING FRIENDS! I’m back today with a new digital release from Power Poppy called Bowl of Beauty. This is the fourth installment of Marcella’s Café au Lait bowl bouquets and it’s filled with some of her favorite plants: Hellebores, Ferns, and a luxurious Tree Peony with stems of Spanish Bluebells resting in a polka-dotted vintage bowl.

Marcella sure does pack a lot of flowers in her images! For my card, I decided to pare things down a bit and cropped the image so it appears along the side of my card. Otherwise, I kept the card design simple, adding a sentiment from the Vibrant Thanks stamp set and a few crystal jewels.

Spring Border One by Power Poppy

Spring Border One by Power Poppy

GOOD EVENING FRIENDS! Today is my mother’s 91st birthday so I spent the day taking her shopping and out to lunch. We had great time. I’m blessed that I still have both of my parents and that they are relatively healthy for their age. My parents no longer drive so I stop by every few days to take them out to lunch, run errands, or sit through their seemingly endless series of doctors’ appointments. As a result, I’m just now getting around to writing today’s post.

I’m back today with the new release from Power Poppy featuring illustrations from the Natural Beauties clear stamp set in digital format. Spring Border One includes one wide border image and three large individual images of Daffodils, Cowslips (Primroses), and Tulips plus four sentiments. Spring Border Two also includes one wide border image and three large individual images of Trillium and toadstools, Starflower, and Lily of the Valley and four sentiments.

I decided to color up the Cowslips shown below from the Spring Border One set.

As some of you know, I recently purchased a Brother Scan N Cut CM320. Fussy cutting is not my forte. Some crafters say that they find it relaxing. I’m not one of them. So after reading reviews, watching videos, and hearing other crafters rave about the machine, I finally broke down and bought one. This is my first card using an image cut by the machine. All I can say is OMG. I’M IN LOVE. As you can see, I set the machine to cut right at the image line (instead of adding a white border allowance). For images like this, I don’t really like seeing that white border. Besides – it cut off the spot where I strayed outside the line.

For the background, I used the Square Mandela Stencil by Gina K. Designs inked blended with Distress Ink in Antique Linen and Tea Dye. Recently, I had the opportunity to meet both Gina and Rina when they offered classes at Photo Scraps. Let me just say that they’re as fun and witty in person as they are in their videos. I learned so much so jump on the opportunity if they come to your local store.

That’s it for today! Be sure you stop by the Power Poppy blog for additional crafty inspiration.

Vital Rose by Power Poppy

Vital Rose by Power Poppy

GOOD MORNING POWER POPPY FANS! I’m back today with a new digital release from Power Poppy called Vital Rose. Now here’s an image that will brighten up a cold, dreary day! This digital stamp set features a large single rose that opens up to welcome all that life has to offer. With lots of room to shade the petals, you can be as loose or as detailed as you’d like in your coloring, and still come away with a dramatic final piece. Available solo or with poetic words handlettered and winding around the petals. Includes no-line versions, too!

I didn’t have a lot of time yesterday to put my design team card together so I decided to keep the coloring and the card design super simple. Since I only had petals and leaves to color, I selected my favorite RV & YG combinations to keep marker selection quick and easy.

After coloring the image, I used the largest die from the Cross Stitched Rectangle Stackables from Lawn Fawn to trim the image layer and added a few dew drop embellishments from Honey Bee Stamps. So here’s the finished project!

2018 Card Design Superstar – Coloring Virtuoso

Happy Monday! Today I’m posting my entry for the 2018 Card Design Superstar Contest at My Favorite Things. I’m entering this project in the category for Coloring Virtuoso.

Over the past few months, I’ve been incorporating stencils into my card designs. The Cloud Stencil from MFT Stamps is one of my favorites and I’ve used it in other projects. To create the background, I blended Distress Oxide Inks in Peeled Paint and Twisted Citron, adding  a little Antique Linen to help make the transition between the land and sky. I stenciled the clouds with Tumbled Glass, turning the stencil to add variety to the cloud formations. When I got to the top of the card, I lightly blended Faded Jeans over the top clouds to make the sky appear a bit stormy.

Rowhouse Greetings | BB Puddle Jumper by My Favorite Things (MFT Stamps)

I decided to use BB Puddle Jumper as the main image. I’ve colored this one before so I felt confident that I could pull the central image together quickly. For the sentiment, I grabbed a retired stamp set out of my stash – I Love You More by MFT Stamps. I wanted a sentiment that had some impact, but would not cover up the stenciled clouds. I used Brutus Monroe embossing ink and Gilded embossing powder to add a little sunshine to my design. I added one of the ducklings from BB Rain or Shine to balance out the design.

That’s all for now! Hope I’ve inspired you to pick up your markers and color today. Thanks for stopping by. 🙂
