Love Blooms | Penny Black

Rowhouse Greetings | Scatter Love by Penny Black

HEY FRIENDS! Another quick post today. Today I’m featuring one of the images from the Love Blooms stamp set by Penny Black. As you know I was recently asked to color images from the latest release and this is one of my favorites. The stamp set includes three simple floral sprigs as well as a sentiment — “ALL OF ME LOVES ALL OF YOU.”

As always, I’m grateful for Penny Black’s support and the opportunity to show you products that I love.

I stamped the image on Strathmore Series 300 Bristol using Memento Ink in Desert Sand. This ink is dark enough to see but light enough that you can cover the lines as you color. I colored the image with Copic markers (see list below). Then I used the Prismacolor colored pencils to add definition and detail that I just can’t get with a Copic marker.

I hardly ever do no-line coloring because I’m really pretty dependent on those black lines. And to be honest, I didn’t think this would turn out so I didn’t bother turning on the camera. However eliminating the black lines as well as sticking with a limited number of markers and colored pencils elevated my coloring to a different level. Certainly fooled me!

That’s all for today!

Flood of Hearts | Penny Black

Rowhouse Greetings | Flood of Hearts by Penny Black

HEY FRIENDS! I’m still in color only mode. Honestly, I haven’t felt like making cards, but I’m finding delight in coloring so that’s where I’m focused right now. I have a stash of Penny Black stamps to work through which they generously sent to me. So that’s what I’m doing right now. Today’s image is from the Flood of Hearts stamp set which includes a second image as well as a sentiment. I’ve left the second image for another day, but I couldn’t resist coloring those hearts!

I’ve started turning on the camera automatically when I sit down to color. And if the technology gods are smiling, I have footage that I can edit and upload to YouTube. So that’s what I did today. It was supposed to be a snowy day — still waiting for that to happen, But I did get to spend a quiet afternoon in the studio coloring a new image.

NEW VIDEO: Enchantingly by Penny Black

HEY FRIENDS! Just a quick post today. I intended on having a video for you on Monday for the Enchantingly image from Penny Black. However, technology failed me. So I colored it again — proving that I can’t color an image the same way twice. But I hope the video better explains the use of B34 under the red and green markers for very basic underpainting.
