GOOD AFTERNOON FRIENDS! I’m back today with a card featuring the Patriotic Painters from House Mouse Designs. This image usually makes the rounds on Pinterest on 4th of July, but I used it here to make a card for a friend to give to her niece who is becoming a citizen next month. The image features Amanda, Mudpie, and Monica — yes, the mice have names — bursting into song after completing their coloring of the American flag.
This image is fun to color, but challenging for a couple of reasons, both relating to the flag. The first is the challenge of coloring around the stars in a dark color without accidentally coloring over a few. I had to do a little cleanup with my colorless blender marker afterwards. The second challenge was coloring the red stripes. This marker combination (R35, R37, R59) blends fairly well, but red will sometimes creep outside the lines if you get too much ink on the paper.

For the sake of simplicity, I chose to color all of the mice in cool gray, but if you want to vary the colors, Stampendous provides a Copic color chart that suggests other color combinations you might want to consider.
Hope you enjoyed today’s card. Don’t forget that tomorrow is Demo Day at Photo Scraps. We’ll be starting at 10AM (instead of the usual 11:00 AM) tomorrow with the hopes of getting some coloring in before the latest round of icy weather comes our way. Hope to see you there!

Adorable Nancy! I love their stamps!
And this was a fun one too. It just required some concentration!
This is adorable! We do love those house mice! Did you name them?
The artist named them. There’s five mice throughout the House Mouse images: Maxwell, Mudpie, Monica, Amanda and Muzzy!
This should be a class! They are adorable!!!’
I’m teaching a House Mouse class at Queen’s Ink in March (class to be announced soon). If there is interest, I’ll add House Mouse into the class schedule rotation.
Cute card Nancy, nice of you to make it for your friend.
Thanks Paulette!
