Wishing You Tree – Hero Arts

Rowhouse Greetings | Wishing You Tree by Hero Arts | Card 1 & Card 2

HEY FRIENDS! Quick post today. You may have noticed that until yesterday, I hadn’t posted for a week or so. My husband tested positive for Covid last Sunday and I did as well on Wednesday. We’re both doing OK. The symptoms have been relatively mild — mostly like an annoying cold — but I have been sleeping a lot. I thought that with the quiet days, I’d complete more projects, but I just didn’t feel like crafting. So I took it as a sign that I needed to recharge my batteries for a few days and pretty much stayed out of the craft room.

So today I’m a little late in posting, but I have a couple of cards to show you that feature the Wishing You Tree stamp set from Hero Arts. As always, I’ve linked supplies with compensated affiliate links used where possible at no cost to you.

Card 1

Rowhouse Greetings | Wishing You Tree and Presents Background, both by Hero Arts

Size: 4.25″ x 5.5″
Featuring:

The image from the Wishing You Tree set was stamped on Hammermill Smooth cardstock with Hero Arts Intense Black Ink. Once the image was colored, I cut it out with the coordinating die that was part of the bundle. For the background, I cut a piece of white cardstock using the largest die in the Diagonal Stitched Rectangle Set by Pinkfresh Studio. Next, I cut a piece of Wild Cherry Cardstock from My Favorite Things to 4.25″ x 4.5″ and stamped it with the Presents Background by Hero Arts using Versamark Ink. I covered the image with clear embossing powder and heat set it. I trimmed the panel to 3.75″ x 5″ and then cut it on the diagonal. The layers were assembled as shown and one of the sentiments was stamped in the upper right corner with Versafine Ink in Nocturne.

COPICS: YG03, YG17 (leaves); YG03, YG17, R24, R46, Y35, Y38, B24, B26 (ornaments)

Card 2

Rowhouse Greetings | Wishing You Tree by Hero Arts

Size: 4.25″ x 5.5″
Featuring:

The images from the Wishing You Tree set were stamped on Hammermill Smooth cardstock with Hero Arts Intense Black Ink. Once the image was colored, I trimmed the panel as well as another piece of white cardstock with the smallest dies in the Folk Edge Rectangles Die Set by PinkFresh Studio. I added a piece of design paper to the cardbase and assembled the layers as shown. Simple design that was simple to color!

Holly Berries by Hero Arts

WELCOME BACK! Today Hero Arts published their 2021 Holiday Catalog with the full release of their stamps for the holiday season. So for today, I’m featuring one of the new stamps – Holly Berries – available as a clear stamp with coordinating die. You’ll see in the directions below that I didn’t have a coordinating pattern paper so I made my own using a Hero Arts background stamp and ink blending with Distress Oxides.

As always, I’ve linked the supplies below with compensated affiliate links used where possible at no cost to you.

Making Christmas Cards (Yes, It’s That Time Again!)

I decided two things about making Christmas cards this year. First, I would stop worrying about making each card unique and come up with some designs that could be massed produced. Second, I would start early so that I wouldn’t be frantically making cards as fast as my husband mails them out. Apparently this year, I’m defining mid-October as early. Since I have several holiday stamps, stencils and dies, it’s time to pull them out and start putting them to use for this year.

I love this snowflake background stamp from Hero Arts so I decided to make it the star of the show. I stamped the image on white card stock and heat embossed it with white embossing powder to create a resist pattern. I blended Distress Inks in Tumbled Glass and Blueprint Sketch over the embossing to make the design pop. I used the Country Landscape die from Memory Box to create the village scene in the foreground and added a sentiment from the Comfort & Joy stamp set by Avery Elle. For the inside, I added a bold sentiment from the Wishing You Love stamp set by Neat & Tangled.

I made all the individual component parts first. I cut the card bases from Neenah 110# card stock and stamped the inside sentiment using my Misti.  I cut all the bases for embossing and all of the village scenes from Neenah 80# card stock. Using my Misti, I stamped the sentiment on all of the village die cuts and stamped and heat embossed all of the snowflake backgrounds. Finally, I ink blended all of the snowflake backgrounds.

In a couple of hours, I had all of the component parts ready for assembly. At the moment, I have ten cards assembled and will finish the final five cards later today.

Mass producing Christmas cards. 10 down – 5 to go!

While I love how these cards turned out, the design is still a little labor intensive. So hopefully my next design will have fewer moving parts!

Below are the supplies I’ve used for today’s project. All items were personally purchased except those marked with an asterisk (*) . I never share a product I do not like. Read more.

Celebrate Today and Every Day

I was feeling very zen as I left an early morning yoga class. The neighborhood was still and quiet. It’s been raining here off and on for days (weeks actually). When I stepped out of the door of the yoga studio, the sun was shining and the air was crisp and clear. The first thought in my head was:

This is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad.

I’m not particularly religious, so on the one hand it was startling that a Bible verse would come to mind. And yet, with all that is going on in the world, it felt good to take a moment to find beauty, rejoice, and be glad.

My new found zen inspired me to combine a stencil, stamp, and sentiment that have been sitting unused in my stash for quite some time. I stenciled the background with Distress Inks – Tumbled Glass, Twisted Citron, and Mustard Seed. While the stencil was still in place, I applied a layer of transparent matte texture paste.

After coloring and fussy cutting the image, I attached it to the card with foam adhesive squares (I use Thin 3-D Foam Squares by Scrapbook Adhesives). However, the squares do not adhere well to texture paste. So I applied a little liquid glue to each of the foam squares to ensure that they bond to the background.

That’s all for now. Go celebrate today and everyday!
