Holiday Delivery by Stampendous!

HEY FRIENDS! Another quick post featuring the Holiday Delivery stamp by Stampendous! I don’t usually make holiday cards year round, but for some reason this year it’s what I want to color. So snowmen and penguins it is!

I stamped the Holiday Delivery image on a piece of Hammermill 100# cardstock using Nuvo Hybrid Ink in Shadow Black. The image was colored with Copic markers (see list below).

Just a note about the layout – I centered the Looped Stackers die on a piece of white cardstock measuring 4.25″ x 5.5″ and held it in place with Mint low tack tape. After die cutting, you have two pieces, the looped die cut and a white frame. I gently inkblended the Looped die cut with Distress Oxides in Mustard Seed and Dried Marigold using a blender brush. I adhered the white frame to the image layer and then glued the looped die cut as an inlay using Ranger Multi Medium Matte that I had transferred to a precision tip applicator bottle.

I trimmed the card front down by cutting 1/8″ off each side. I backed the card front with craft foam for dimension and adhered it to a card base. I added a few embellishments from the Holiday Cheer Sequin Mix by Honey Bee Stamps using Ranger Multi Medium Matte.

That’s all for today! See you again soon!

Wintery Day by Stampendous

GOOD MORNING FRIENDS! This post will be short and sweet. Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and I still have much to do to get ready. I’ve done very little so far to get ready so today will be a scramble to get everything in order. And what have I been doing instead? Well, I decided that I wanted some time to myself to color. So that’s what I did!

Today’s project features:

Rowhouse Greetings | Wintery Day by Stampendous

I have a soft spot for cute stamps and frankly I bought this stamp because I couldn’t resist this snowman. Coloring white objects is a bit tricky because as you’ve probably noticed – there’s no white Copic marker. So we color the shadows, contours and reflections. I tend to color snowmen in shades of blue and blue/green and I throw in a bit of blue violet in the darkest shadows to create a bit of depth. It takes a bit of restraint though because you don’t end up with a blue snowman!

That’s all for me today. It’s time to tackle my to do list. But let me take a moment to say how grateful I am to each and every one of you for joining me and supporting me through this artistic journey. I am beyond thankful to have you all in my life. Happy Thanksgiving!

Until next time ….

March Demo Day – Photo Scraps

GOOD MORNING FRIENDS! As you may already know, this month’s Demo Day event at Photo Scraps has been cancelled. However, you can still get your Demo Day fix! The store is remaining open as long as they are allowed and are limiting the number of people in the store at a time to 10 or less. Tracy and the gang are also offering curbside service so you can call the store in advance and they will pull your order and deliver it to your car. See the Photo Scraps announcement for details.

For this month, I had three cards featuring the Blue Poppies and the Bunch of Blossoms stamps sets by Stampendous. Since I can be there with you in person, I’ve created a series of videos to show you how to color the images and instructions for completing the cards

CARD 1

To complete the card:

  • Adhere the patterned card stock to the card base.
  • The kit contains two white card stock rectangles. On the larger piece (i.e. the one WITHOUT the sentiment), color a 1/4″ border along all four sides using the B24 marker. Once complete, center and glue the smaller rectangle with the sentiment on top. This will create the blue border behind the sentiment layer.
  • Glue the combined layers to the front of the card.
  • Fussy cut the image. On the back, place foam dimensional squares. Adhere to front of card.

CARD 2

To complete the card:

  • Adhere the patterned card stock to the card base.
  • Place foam dimensional squares on the back of the image. Adhere to the larger white rectangle.
  • Adhere to front of card.

CARD 3

To complete the card:

  • Adhere the patterned card stock to the card base.
  • On the white rectangle card stock, color a 1/4″ border along all four sides using the R22 marker.
  • Place foam dimensional squares on the back of the image. Adhere to the larger rectangle. This will create the peach border behind the sentiment layer.
  • Adhere the combined layer to the front of the card.

Dragonfly Ride by House Mouse Designs

GOOD MORNING FRIENDS! Today’s card it a little bit of a throwback to my early coloring days. When I first started coloring, most of my early images were from House Mouse Designs. As time passed, I started coloring images from other stamp companies, but I still have a soft spot for Amanda, Monica, Mudpie, Maxwell and Muzzy. So today’s card features Monica and friend on a Dragonfly Ride!

When planning my project, I decided to start with the stenciling. I didn’t want to have to recolor the image if I made a mistake with the stenciling. So I die cut the paper and stamping the image so I would know where to position the stenciling. Using Distress Ink in Tumbled Glass, I carefully stenciled around the image. Then I colored the image with Copic markers and heat embossed the sentiment. I added Wink of Stella in Clear to the dragonfly wings for a little extra shimmer.

That’s it for today! See ya soon!

Wrapping Up Tuesday’s Class and Hitting the Road!

Just finished another class on Tuesday at The Queen’s Ink where we colored up some fun images from House Mouse Designs (Stampendous!). Had a great group in class and I think everyone had fun and learned something new. Next class at the Queen’s Ink will be on Tuesday, April 30th where we’ll be experimenting with faux watercoloring with alcohol inks. You can either register online or call the store at (301) 497-9449.

Tonight, we’re hitting the road, having made a somewhat last minute decision to spend Friday at the Allentown Rubber Stamp & Paper Arts Festival. This will be my first time attending so I’m excited to see all the vendors and new products. My husband — the good sport that he is — will be coming along as well, although I don’t know if he’ll last all day. Hope to see you there and be sure to stop by Photo Scraps’ booth and say hello to Tracy. Tell her Nancy sent you!
