WELCOME BACK FRIENDS! I’m loving these Anita Jeram images from Colorado Craft Company so I decided to color the stamp set Be Creative this time using Copic markers. I have a new Copic coloring video for you as well so pull out those markers and get coloring!
I also recently colored this image using Karin Brushmarkers and you can see that project here. Speaking of which, I’m going to be teaching a Karin Brushmarker class at The Queen’s Ink later in the month that will be featuring Anita Jeram images. I’ll have more information on that class shortly.
I’m going to jump right to the coloring because I have a new video for you. The markers are listed in the video as well as in the supply list below.

Color image with Copic markers (see marker list below and video for additional instruction).
Trim top of image with the Notebook Border Die from Taylored Expressions. Trim remaining image to desired size (mine is approximately 2-5/8″ x 4.25″)
Arrange on card background elements on card front as shown. I applied craft foam to the back of the white cardstock layer and the image layer for added dimension.

GOOD MORNING FRIENDS! I’m back today with another card featuring the High-Flying Adventure stamp set by My Favorite Things. This stamp sent reminded me of my husband. Every time we get in the car, my husband and I joke that we are off on another adventure. Usually those adventures are on the ground, but a couple of summers ago, we had the opportunity to fly to Tangier Island, a small island community in the Chesapeake Bay accessible only by air or by ferry boat. A friend of my husband is a pilot with a single-prop plane and he offered to take us along on one of his trips to the island.
I’m not a good flyer — in fact, I don’t like to fly at all — so I was hesitant to go along. I knew that I would regret not going, so after a lot of reassurances from the pilot, I decided to go.
Flying in a small plane is not the same as flying in a commercial airliner. We flew at a much lower altitude so we could see the details of the landscape below us. On the one hand, it was interesting, but if you are also afraid of heights like I am, you want to be either a lot closer to the ground or high enough that you don’t see it! But after awhile, I relaxed enough to enjoy seeing the world from a different perspective.
We walked around the island, had lunch with the locals, and thoroughly enjoyed our day. If I hadn’t gone, I would have missed out on a memorable high-flying adventure!

GOOD MORNING FRIENDS! I’m back today with something a little different. First of all, no Copics! Second, it’s me, watercoloring! How did that happen? Like many of you, I adore the new Anita Jeram stamps from Colorado Craft Company. Although they would look just fine colored with Copic markers, they really need the flowy softness of watercolors. I recently took at class at The Queen’s Ink using Karin Brushmarker Pro brush pens and decide they would be perfect for this image.
I used the wet-on-wet method for watercoloring, applying clean water to the area to be colored with a No. 4 round Silver Black Velvet Brush. Then I lightly touched the tip of the Brushmarker Pro marker to the damp paper to apply color, allowing the ink to wick outward. I used my brush to move the ink where I wanted the color to be.
You could use a waterbrush, but I really like my Silver Black Velvet Brushes (I have various sizes of their round brushes) and wanted to try them out here.
I applied the color in layers. For the first layer, I simply blocked out where the various colors would go. Then I applied additional layers of ink to deepen colors or add depth and shadows. I allowed the ink to dry thoroughly before applying the next layer.
FINISHING THE CARD
After the layers were complete and thoroughly dry, I trimmed the watercolor paper with one of the dies in the Wonky Stitched Rectangles die set by My Favorite Things. I thought it added a nice detail to the edges.
For the background, I cut another piece of watercolor paper to A2 size. Then I picked a couple of the markers used in the image, scribbled the ink on a piece of acetate, and spritzed it with clean water. Next, I dabbed the acetate on the watercolor paper, creating ink blotches as shown. I prefer this method rather than smooching the paper into the ink. I think that you get more texture and variety in the ink blot pattern and it’s easier to control the end result. You can add multiple layers but be sure you dry the layer carefully with a heat gun before moving onto the next.
To finish, I glued a piece of craft foam to the back of the image to pop it up from the background. I adhered the card front to a card base and that finished off the card.

Well, I’m popping this card in the mail to my friend Wendy Taylor-Aspinall. A few weeks ago, she was a guest artist on Kae Pea’s Creative comMOONity blog and created beautiful Love Art Dolls using ArtFoamies stamps. Afterwards, she graciously sent the doll on the far left to me so I thought this card would be the perfect thank you note.
