Boo Cat and Pumpkins by Power Poppy

WELCOME BACK! Look at me! Two days in a row! And that’s because – you guessed it! – I have another card from the Fall Digital Blitz from Power Poppy. Before I forget, Marcella is offering a special sale on all in-stock stamps, dies and digital sets: $5 off if you spend $15 or more. Coupon code shown here is expires October 14th so don’t delay!

Today I’m featuring the Boo Cat and Pumpkins Digital Stamp Set, which includes the image seen here as well as additional images and sentiments. The cat and pumpkin image is also available in the Feeling Fall Stamp Set if digis are not your thing.

Once again I kept the design simple. I printed the image and sentiment on Hammermill paper and then trimmed it with the largest die in the LF Zig Zag set. How’s that for clean and simple?

And I’ve got something extra today. I’ve been thinking about adding video to my blog posts so here’s my first today. No audio instruction – I don’t have a suitable microphone – but you’ll be able to see the markers colors and some notes as I color.

Hope you enjoyed today’s post and my first video! More to come! You can subscribe to my YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCfyQlOZMg1EhqH5jB51g7nw

Fall Digital Blitz Release from Power Poppy

Phebe (2001 – 2019)

GOOD MORNING FRIENDS! It’s been a long and eventful week. It started with a long awaited visit from my nephew and his wife who live in upstate New York. We took them to many of our favorite neighborhood hangouts. Chris even had his first ride on the water taxi to go across the harbor for breakfast.

In the midst of their visit, my beloved cat Phebe passed away unexpectedly after suffering a stroke. My ninth wedding anniversary was also this week, but in the aftermath of losing Phebe, we didn’t feel much like celebrating so it ended up being a quiet day. Things are starting to get back to normal — or at least our new normal — so it was time to get back to crafting.

I’m back today with a card featuring Dazzling Display, one of the new digital releases from Power Poppy. I kept the design fairly simple using a die and a paper pack in my stash. I paired the image with the sentiment from the Fall Haul Digital Stamp Set, also by Power Poppy.

Actually, Marcella must have been on overdrive because there are ten new and remixed digital releases, all now available in the Power Poppy shop. Take a look at the new Fall Digital Blitz Release. Be sure to stop by the Power Poppy blog on Saturday, Oct 5th — World Cardmaking Day — when Marcella will share some surprises and prizes!

And stay tuned – I’ll be updating my schedule with new classes at Photo Scraps and The Queen’s Ink for the fall and winter months.

Olive and Oak by Power Poppy

I first colored this image by Power Poppy when it was released as a digital stamp, but wanted to  give it another try with the extra sentiments and stamps in the expanded set. But frankly, I didn’t feel like coloring today, so I pulled out some embossing powders to see what I could do.

Some images just need the enhancement that coloring provides, but Marcella’s artwork has so much life and detail that it can take center stage all by itself. So a little heat embossing and a few layers of paper later, we’ve got a beautiful card to kick off the upcoming holiday season.

Supplies

Paper: Neenah Solar White 110#; X-Press It Blending Card by Copic; Bountiful Seven from Bountiful Collection by Authentique; Bazzill cardstock in Yam
Stamp: Olive and Oak Expanded Stamp Set (*) by Power Poppy
Dies: A2 Matting Basics A and A2 Matting Basics B by Spellbinders
Inks: Tsukineko Versafine in Onyx Black; Tsukineko Versamark Watermark Ink
Embossing Powder: Ranger Liquid Platinum

Items marked with an asterisk (*) were provided by a store or the manufacturer for free or at a discount. All other items were personally purchased.

Olive and Oak

I was tempted once again by Marcella Hawley’s digital stamps over at Power Poppy and this is the end result. Used LOTS of Copic colors to achieve the blending which added a lot of punch to the image. The next time I color this image, I might blend the olives differently. Instead of using multiple shades of cool gray, I’d probably try to blend from dark gray into shades of olive green to add a little more dimension.
