Flowers & Pumpkin Witch – Krista Smith Stamps

HEY FRIENDS! I’m back with another edition of Nancy and Jill Color Together! If you saw last month’s post, you know that Jill Killeen of Killeen House Studio asked me to participate in a monthly challenge with her where we would color the same image and see how we each interpreted it. This month, we’re coloring the Flowers & Pumpkin Witch from Krista Smith Stamps. As you’ll see in a moment, Jill and I went in completely opposite directions with this one! As always, I’ve linked supplies with compensated affiliate links used where possible at no cost to you.

So here’s my interpretation of this month’s image!

I printed the image on Hammermill Cardstock and colored it with Copic markers (see list below). I recently purchased the Rectangular Infinity Dies from Hero Arts and they really came in handy here. My witch is a little more pumpkin spice than Halloween scary so I stuck to more muted tones, relying on more saturated colors and playing up the gray undertone.

We use digital stamps in our challenge and I know that some of you find that in and of itself to be a challenge. So I’ve got a video over on my YouTube channel showing how I print digital stamps for Power Poppy. Check it out!

Now Jill went the complete opposite extreme and her little witch just may show up on your doorstep this month. Hope you have plenty of candy! Check out her blog post describing her card.

I laughed when I saw how different our interpretations were of the same image. But I loved Jill’s color choices and how far she took the Halloween theme. Check out her blog post describing her card and give her post some love!

That’s all for today! Thanks for stopping by!

Anita Jeram Boo Time by Colorado Craft Company

HEY FRIENDS! I’m a little late posting today – a new washer and dryer is being delivered here today which is exciting news for us. Trying to find an in-stock washer and dryer in the midst of ongoing supply chain issues that would fit in a cramp space was beginning to feel like an exercise in futility. But on Thursday, I managed to track down the last set in the metropolitan area of the model we wanted and it’s being delivered today. So we’ve had to double check all the measurements — even fractions of an inch makes a difference between fitting and not fitting — and make sure everything is ready for delivery.

BUT FIRST, here’s some housekeeping of a different sort!

FREE SHIPPING DAYS: October 1st and 2nd, ending at midnight, mountain time. Free domestic shipping and $6.95 off international shipping. No promo code required. If you’re thinking about ordering, now’s the time to do it!

For the background, I cut a piece of Bristol Smooth cardstock (my preferred paper for ink blending) to 4.25″ x 5.5″ and masked off 1″ on each side using strips cut from Masking Magic. Then I masked along the bottom of the exposed area to create a 1″ gap where I ink blended Distress Ink in Black Soot. Next, I removed the bottom mask and realigned it to cover the Black Soot and ink blended the remainder of the center with Distress Ink in Wild Honey, Squeezed Lemonade and Wilted Violet. I created the clouds using the Cloud Stencil from My Favorite Things blended with Black Soot.

Finally, I removed the mask covering the bottom Black Soot blending and stamped the images using Hero Arts Intense Black ink. Then I removed all the masks and started coloring. Since I used Distress Ink (as opposed to Distress Oxide) I can color with my Copics directly over the dye ink. Marker list provided below.

I stamped the “Boo Time” sentiment on a piece of white cardstock using Versafine ink. I cut out the circle using one of the dies in the Hero Arts Infinity Circle Dies set.

When I was assembling the card, I decided to trim 1/8″ off of each side of the panel. From there, I just assembled the layers as shown.

Anita Jeram Hang in There – Colorado Craft Company

HEY FRIENDS! I’m back today with TWO new projects featuring the Anita Jeram Hang in There stamp set, part of the Halloween release by Colorado Craft Company. I loved this stamp set – the bats are whimsical and fun to color. This set also comes with coordinating dies although I didn’t use them for my project.

BUT FIRST, let’s get a little housekeeping out the way!

GIVEAWAY 1: Colorado Craft Company is giving away a HUGE complete bundle to ONE lucky winner. To be entered, you have to use my affiliate links to buy their products. The winner will receive an email from Colorado Craft Company and the name will also be announced on their blog.

GIVEAWAY 2: One lucky person who comments on Wednesday’s blog post will win one set from this release from Colorado Craft Company.  Make sure you comment by October 1st at Midnight MST. The more you comment, the better chance you have to win!

Here’s the first card. I decided that it would be less confusing to post the second card as a separate post so the second card will publish later this afternoon. So be sure you check out both projects. As always, I’ve linked supplies with compensated affiliate links used where possible at no cost to you.

To start, I stamped the image from the Anita Jeram Hang in There on a piece of Hammermill Smooth Cardstock with Hero Arts Intense Black ink. I colored the images with Copic markers (see marker list below). Next, I trimmed the panel to 3.25″ x 5.5″ and backed it with a piece of solid cardstock cut to 3.5″ x 5.5″ (I used Peach Belini Cardstock from My Favorite Things, but the color has been retired).

The sentiment was stamped using Versafine ink. I applied craft foam on the back but you could use foam tape to add dimension. I cut a piece of design paper from the Black & White Striped 6×6 Paper Pad by My Favorite Things and adhered it to a cardbase cut from Neenah Classic Crest.

That’s all for now, but keep an eye out because I’ll be posting again later this afternoon!

To start, I cut a piece of Hammermill Smooth Cardstock to 4.25″ x 5.5″ and stamped the trick or treaters along the bottom using Hero Arts Intense Black Ink. I stamped the same images on a piece of Masking Magic, fussy cut the images, and applied the masks to the panel.

Next, I stamped the fence using Hero Arts Intense Black Ink. Afterwards, I used medium sized moon from the Tim Holtz Moon Mask Stencil set and lightly traced the outline of the moon in pencil. Then I started coloring, use the Copic markers listed below:

  • Cat 1: BV20, BV23, BV25 (fur); R35, R56, R59 (coat); E01, E04 (collar & cuffs); YR04, YR09 (pumpkin)
  • Cat 2: BV20, BV23, BV25 (fur); V2, V25, V28 (hat); YR09 (pumpkin)
  • Cat 3: E13, E15, E19 (fur); YG03, YG17, G29 (cape)
  • Cat 4: C0, C1 (fur); V2, V25, V28 (coat); E01, E04 (collar & cuffs); YR09 (bag)
  • Sky: FB2, B28, B69, B79, BV08
  • Moon: Y21, YR23, Y26, B00
  • Pillars: W1, W3, W5, W7
  • Gate: T5, T7

For the moon, I lightly colored using Y21, leaving a small white border along the inside. For the moon details, I used the coordinating mask to color in the features using YR23 and Y26. Then I used B00 to color the white space, creating the glow around the moon.

I stamped the sentiment on the moon using Versafine ink, covered the ink with clear embossing powder, and heat set the powder.

Finally, I trimmed the panel to 4″ x 5.5″ and applied craft foam to the back using Beacon’s 3-in-1 Advanced Craft Glue. Craft foam is getting hard to find, so you could use foam tape if you prefer. I glued a piece of Licorice Cardstock to an A2 cardbase cut from Neenah Classic Crest and then adhered the image panel to the center as shown.

Grandpa’s Ride for 100 Moons Creative

GOOD MORNING FRIENDS! There’s definitely a chill in the air so with Halloween rapidly approaching, it’s time to sneak in a few autumn cards before I go back to my Christmas cards. When I saw today’s featured stamps by Barb Rogers for RubberMoon, I thought that those pumpkins would look perfect riding in the back of Grandpa’s truck. So I did a little stamping magic using masking paper so that I could combine the two images into one. I’ve linked the supplies for today’s project with compensated affiliate links used where possible at no cost to you.

Today’s project features:

Rowhouse Greetings | Grandpa's Ride by Rubber Moon

Step by Step for Grandpa’s Ride

  • Trim a piece of white cardstock to 1.75″ x 5.5″ and ink blend from dark to light with Distress Oxide inks in Black Soot, Hickory Smoke, and Milled Lavender. Set aside and allow inks to thoroughly dry.
  • Stamp truck on white Copic friendly cardstock with Copic friendly black ink.
  • Stamp truck on stamping mask paper and fussy cut the image.
  • Remove backing from mask and place over original stamped image.
  • Stamp pumpkins so that they appear to sit in back of truck.
  • Remove masking paper from image.
  • Color image (Copic marker colors shown below).
  • Color centers of tires with a silver gel pen.
  • Fussy cut image.
  • Apply foam adhesive squares to back of image and set aside.
  • Cut a piece of design paper to 2.5″ x 5.5″ and adhere to card base as shown.
  • Cut a piece of white cardstock to 1 7/8″ x 5.5″ and adhere to center of design paper as shown.

  • Glue ink blended strip to center of white cardstock.
  • Stamp sentiment as shown.
  • Adhere truck to front of card as shown.
