GOOD MORNING FRIENDS! Just a quick post today. I’ve not been doing much Copic coloring lately and I’m getting a little rusty. When I was working, I colored every evening, but now that I’m retired, there are so many other things capture my time and attention. So I decided that I needed to dedicate some time again for coloring so that my hand would keep it’s muscle memory!

Our household includes three tuxedo cats so I’m always on the lookout for fun feline images. And this image captures the personalities of our cats. Poppy in particular would love to be able to take selfies!

Joyous Holidays by My Favorite Things

GOOD EVENING FRIENDS! I’m back with a new card featuring the Joyous Holidays stamp set by My Favorite Things. I know it’s unusual for me to post in the evening, but I spent the day making this card and pulling together a Copic coloring video so I decided to go ahead and post.

Today’s project features:

Coloring Video

Step By Step Directions for Joyous Holidays

  • Cut card base from Neenah Classic Crest 110# cardstock to 4.25″ x 11″ and score at 5.5″ for a top fold card.
  • Cut a sheet of pattern paper from the Christmas Cheer Paper Pad using the largest die from the Wonky Stitched Rectangle Die-namics Adhere to center of card base with a strong craft glue (I use Beacon’s 3 in 1 Adhesive).
  • Cut the tag from a scrap piece of white cardstock using the largest die from the Tag Stacklets 2 set.
  • Cut a piece of white craft foam to fit back of tag. Adhere to back of tag with a strong craft glue.
  • Using the Merry & Bright die, cut the sentiment from black cardstock (I used Black Licorice Prestige Card Stock from MFT).
  • Stamp sentiment from Merry & Bright stamp set with Versamark on a scrap of black card stock. Cover with white embossing powder (I used Ranger Embossing Powder in White), heat set and set aside.
  • Stamp images on a Copic friendly paper with a Copic compatible ink (here I used  Hammermill Premium Color Copy Cover 100# Cardstock with a Nuvo Hybrid Ink in Shadow Black).
  • Color image with Copic markers as shown in video. I forgot to add the bird image to the video, but the colors are listed below.
  • Either fussy cut or die cut the images. I used my Brother Scan ‘n’ Cut.
  • Adhere “MERRY” die cut to front of tag.
  • Apply foam squares to back of colored images and embossed sentiment.
  • Arrange on card elements on card front as shown.

Rowhouse Greetings | You Gnome Me by My Favorite Things for MFT 2020 Card Design Superstar Challenge: Clean & Simple Genius

For my entry, I used an older stamp – You Gnome Me – along with its coordinating dies. This is an older stamp that has been retired, but it is a particular favorite of mine. I selected one of the gnome images and colored it along with one of the snails with Copic markers (see list below). For the sentiment, I inked up the Here’s A Huge Hug stamp with black ink and stamped it on a piece of Sweet Tooth cardstock. I selected the pattern papers from the Sweet Celebrations and the Black & White Stripes 6×6 paper packs. For the background, I used Grout Gray cardstock, also by My Favorite Things.

GOOD AFTERNOON FRIENDS! I decided to take a break from holiday cards and color up some of the floral images that have been languishing in my stash. So today I’m featuring Corner Blooms by My Favorite Things to create a card for my friend Kim. She has been making face masks and sent me one to add to my rotation. Coloring Details for Corner Blooms

I colored the image with Copic markers, working from light to dark. I didn’t want the end result to be solid color so I flicked the color on the petals making sure that I left some white for highlights and used the darker colors to emphasize the shadows and texture of the petals.

More BB Christmas Selfies by My Favorite Things

GOOD AFTERNOON FRIENDS! I’ve been in a bit of a crafting slump lately. It happens sometimes where nothing I color turns out. This time, however, I’m just not motivated to craft. So I’m taking it easy on myself, watching lots of YouTube videos, scrolling through Pinterest and just seeing where my mood and inclination takes me.

For the moment, my crafting urge seems to be focused on holiday cards so I’ve been playing with the BB Christmas Selfies set by My Favorite Things.

Today’s project features:

Coloring the Image

To start, I stamped the image on X-Press It Blending Card [AZ] using Nuvo Hybrid Ink in Shadow Black [AZ]. I colored the image with Copic markers (see list below). After coloring the image, I trimmed the paper down to the black border around the image. I used the Polaroid Shaker Frame Die-namics [MFT] to cut out the photo frame from white cardstock and adhered it to the image. Afterwards, I backed the combined image and frame with a piece of craft foam [AZ] for dimension and set it aside. Using my MISTI, I stamped the sentiment from the Birdie Brown Greeting Galore set [MFT] with Nuvo Hybrid Ink. Since my image background is dark, the ribbon to the ornament was no long visible so I drew it back in with a white gel pen.

Creating the Background

For the background, I cut a sheet of Cement Gray Prestige Card Stock [MFT] to 4.25 inches by 5.5 inches. Using the Winter Stencil Strips [MFT] and Distress Oxides, I stenciled the “Ho Ho Ho” portion of the stencil across the middle. I started with Picked Raspberry [SB| SP] and as I moved the stencil down I used Worn Lipstick [SB|SP], and then Tattered Rose [SB|SP] to create a gradient effect. I stenciled the snowflake pattern above and the snowy patterned below using Distress Oxide Ink in Peacock Feathers [SB|SP]. After I glued all of the card layers together, I added a few Silver Bell sequins [retired] from Honey Bee Stamps.
