Hand Lettered Jolly Good by Power Poppy

GOOD MORNING FRIENDS! Hope you had a great Thanksgiving holiday. I spent the day with my husband and parents. I decided that I was not going to cook so I had all the dinner fixings catered — turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes & gravy, and mixed vegetables followed by pumpkin pie and ice cream. My mother loves jigsaw puzzles so we brought three new ones over to the house with us and spent the day working on puzzles in between bouts of watching football and holiday eating.

But now it’s on to the next holiday, which in my case is Christmas! So I’m back today with a relatively simple card featuring one of the new digital stamps by Power Poppy – Hand Lettered Jolly Good.

Baby Words by Paper Nest Dolls

Hey gang! I’m a guest designer this month over at The Paper Nest. The new releases this month includes this darling digital stamp called Baby Words. It features a soft bunny rabbit seat atop the word “Baby” surrounded by a bottle, pacifier, and a hobby horse. The image would make an adorable centerpiece for a card welcoming the new baby in your life.

Soothing Sympathy by Power Poppy

Sympathy cards are always tough to make and not exactly a card that one keeps on hand. So here are a few ideas for cards from a class that I taught several months ago at Photo Scraps. This set of cards features the Soothing Sympathy clear stamp set from Power Poppy. The sentiments lend themselves to sympathy cards, but the images can certainly be used for other types of cards.

Leaves Plate No. 4 by Red Castle Stamps

I’m here today with a card featuring one of the red rubber stamp sheets from Red Castle Stamps. These stamp sheets, exclusively available at The Queen’s Ink, are deeply etched and create a clear, crisp impression. Subject matter ranging from antique images of cats, leaves, and vases to classic art, the Gibson Girls, canaries, alphabets, snowflakes, dominoes, textures, prayerful expressions, and more.

To inspire you, I’ve put together a simple, but elegant card featuring an image from Red Castle’s Leaves Plate 4. I used the new Tim Holtz Stamping Platform to stamp the image on watercolor paper with Versamark ink. Since the stamps are unmounted, I set up the stamping plate as if I were using a clear stamp and adhered the stamp to the plate with a low-tack double-sided tape.

I recently acquired a set of the Nuvo Aqua Flow pens and decided that this would be the perfect opportunity to try them out. I dabbed a little color along the vein lines of the leaf and blended it out with a damp watercolor brush. Once the ink dried, I fussy cut the leaf and mounted it to the card with foam tape for added dimension.

The design papers are from the Bountiful Collection by Authentique. I selected a sentiment from Penny Black’s Heartfelt stamp set and used Versafine ink in Vintage Sepia to coordinate with the autumn tones of the card.

Hope my project has inspired you! And remember – these Red Castle Stamps are only available in limited quantities. Once they’re gone, they’re gone! So don’t miss out on this unique opportunity to stock up on a high quality stamp.

New Digital Release – Gingerbread Family by Power Poppy

Welcome back to Rowhouse Greetings! I’m back today with a holiday card featuring the new digital release from Power Poppy called Gingerbread Family. This digital stamp set has plenty of options for creating tags – note that it includes both the front AND back of the gingerbread boy and girl – but I decided that I wanted to use the gingerbread house as the focal point of my card. While shopping local at Photo Scraps, I found a fabulous design paper from Pebbles that was the perfect complement to this image. I loved the whimsical design full of baking utensils and tiny gingerbread cookies. After coloring the image, I added some clear Wink of Stella to the snow along the roof line for a hint of glitter and shine.

I didn’t want those gingerbread cookie images to go to waste, so I added them to the inside of the card along with the sentiment included in the stamp set.

Check out the gingerbread tags made by fellow Instant Gardener Elizabeth Zaffarano. And be sure to stop by the Power Poppy blog for additional crafty inspiration!
