Santa’s Elves | MFT Stamps

HEY FRIENDS! Quick post today. I was happy to see that MFT Stamps re-released the Santa’s Elves stamp set. This set was one of my early acquisitions and remains one of my favorites so I like to pull it out every year to use on a few cards. As always, I’ve linked supplies with compensated affiliate links used where possible at no cost to you.

For this card, I stamped the image and sentiment with Hero Arts Intense Black ink on a piece of Hammermill cardstock trimmed using the Nesting Rectangle Infinity Dies by Hero Arts. The image was colored with Copic markers (see list below). Afterwards, I trimmed a sheet of design paper from the Black and White Stripes 6×6 paper pad to 2″ x 5.5″ as well as a strip of red glitter cardstock trimmed to 0.5″ x 5.5″. Once the coloring was complete, I assembled the layers as shown onto the cardbase.

That’s all for today! Gotta run!

Flurries of Fun | Colorado Craft Company

HEY FRIENDS! I have a confession: I’ve not had a lot of time or mojo lately for crafting. Looming holiday preparations, family caregiving and just stuff in general has been getting in the way. So I pulled out a favorite from my stash – Anita Jeram’s Flurries of Fun – and mixed it with some other old friends and new favorites for today’s project. As always, I’ve linked supplies with compensated affiliate links used where possible at no cost to you.

For the image layer, I cut a piece of Hammermill smooth cardstock to 4.25″ x 5.5″ and stamped the images from the Anita Jeram Flurries of Fun stamp set using Hero Arts Intense Black ink. I colored the images with Copic markers (see list below). I like a lot of contrast when I color snow, so you might be a bit surprised by the colors I picked. Here, we’re not coloring white, but the shadows in the snow so I like to push them a bit for contrast and interest. Once the coloring was finished, I trimmed the paper using one of the dies from the Spirited die set by Penny Black. This set is actually designed for slim line cards, but works just as well with a smaller card front.

For the background, I used one of the sheets from the Christmas Cheer 6×6 paper pad from MFT Stamps. Sadly, this paper pad has been retired but I’m sure you have similar paper in your stash that would work. I stamped a sentiment from the Wishes Snowflakes stamp set by Colorado Craft Company using Simon Says Stamp Intense Black Ink. Although this ink says that it’s suitable for alcohol markers, it’s always smeared for me when I’ve tested it. HOWEVER, I do like it for stamping sentiments and it produces a nice, crisp image.

Afterwards, I assembled the layers as shown. I did not add dimension to this card since I wanted to be able to send it with regular postage.

This is my week for taking family members to doctor appointments, winter vaccinations, and holiday gatherins so I’ll be spending a lot of time driving from one place to the next. Hope you have a less eventful week ahead of you!

Snowman Branch | Stampendous!

HEY FRIENDS! I took a bit of a hiatus — not from cardmaking, but from blogging. Sometimes all the overhead of blogging — tracking the colors, photography, drafting the post, scheduling social media, etc. — gets in the way of the actual fun of making the cards. So my blog has been quiet for a few weeks so that I could just make some cards in the limited time that I’ve had lately to craft. But I do like to keep a record of what I’ve made so I started going through my notes to catch up with posting.

As always, I’ve linked supplies with compensated affiliate links used where possible at no cost to you.

I have a thing for snowmen so when I saw this stamp by Stampendous, I knew that I had to color it. I stamped the image on Hammermill cardstock using Hero Arts Intense Black ink and colored it with Copic markers (see list below). After coloring the image, I added a sentiment from the Festive Overlay stamp set stamped using Versafine Clare in Nocturne. While this is a great vintage stamp set, I often use it just for the sentiments.

That’s all for today! See you again soon!

Layered Merry Christmas Foliage | Spellbinders

HEY FRIENDS! It’s World Cardmaking Day! Now there’s a holiday that I can get behind! And since I’m in full holiday cardmaking mode, I have a simple Christmas card to honor the day featuring the Layered Merry Christmas Foliage stencil set by Spellbinders. Since the design is stenciled, this would be an easy card to make in bulk for the holidays. I stuck with traditional Christmas colors, but non-traditional color palettes would work just as well.

This card is really easy to put together. I’ve created a short video showing you the stenciling portion of the card.

Since I work on a Glassboard, I usually hold down my stencils with magnets. However, there wasn’t enough of a margin on the stencil so I simply held the stencils in place with Pixie Repositionable Tape. It’s a low tack tape and peels off cleanly. I also used domed foam blenders for the ink blending. Since they’re relatively inexpensive, I can have a blender for each ink pad rather than a blender for each color family.

That’s all for now!

So Cool | Anthony’s Paper Craft

HEY FRIENDS! By the time you see this post, I’ll be on vacation. We were supposed to go to the Grand Canyon, but we figured that the government would shut down and we either wouldn’t be able to get into the park or air travel would be difficult. So we rearranged our plans and hopefully when you read this, we’ll be peacefully biking around Cape May, NJ. But in the meantime, I wanted to share with you a recent project featuring another image from the Snow Cool stamp set by Anthony’s Paper Craft. I have a thing for snowpeople and can’t resist coloring them. So here we are!
