Patriotic Painters by House House Designs

Rowhouse Greetings | Patriotic Painters by House Mouse Designs

GOOD AFTERNOON FRIENDS! I’m back today with a card featuring the Patriotic Painters from House Mouse Designs. This image usually makes the rounds on Pinterest on 4th of July, but I used it here to make a card for a friend to give to her niece who is becoming a citizen next month. The image features Amanda, Mudpie, and Monica — yes, the mice have names — bursting into song after completing their coloring of the American flag.

This image is fun to color, but challenging for a couple of reasons, both relating to the flag. The first is the challenge of coloring around the stars in a dark color without accidentally coloring over a few. I had to do a little cleanup with my colorless blender marker afterwards. The second challenge was coloring the red stripes. This marker combination (R35, R37, R59) blends fairly well, but red will sometimes creep outside the lines if you get too much ink on the paper.

For the sake of simplicity, I chose to color all of the mice in cool gray, but if you want to vary the colors, Stampendous provides a Copic color chart that suggests other color combinations you might want to consider.

Hope you enjoyed today’s card. Don’t forget that tomorrow is Demo Day at Photo Scraps. We’ll be starting at 10AM (instead of the usual 11:00 AM) tomorrow with the hopes of getting some coloring in before the latest round of icy weather comes our way. Hope to see you there!

Game Day by House Mouse Designs

Football season is underway here in the United States. Although I live near the stadium, I can’t say that I follow the game. At best, I can tell you the name of the home team and that they wear purple. My dad at age ninety is still a big football fan and when I was a child, all of us would sitting around the TV on Sunday afternoons to watch the game. This was in the days before televisions had remotes so one of us kids was usually charged with the task of flipping the channels and adjusting the rabbit ears to get the best reception.

In the House Mouse world, Maxwell and Amanda have it a little easier. And their game day even includes snacks!

This card was created as a store model for Photo Scraps. Stop by the store and see it in person!

Grasshopper Leap – What’s Up?

Just a fun, cheeky little card featuring an image from House Mouse Designs called Grasshopper Leap. I just love the grasshopper ricocheting off of Mudpie’s head! I paired it with this sweet design paper from the Saucy Collection by Authentique and a sentiment from Paper Smooches to create a fun card to brighten someone’s day.
