Spring Blossoms by Honey Bee Stamps

GOOD MORNING FRIENDS! Just finished up another class at Photo Scraps featuring the Spring Blossoms stamps set by Honey Bee Stamps. This set of cards was a lot of fun to design and put together, adding a touch of spring to an all too cold winter.

As some of you know, I’m a frustrated watercolorist, so I’ve been trying to get a watercolor effect using my Copic markers. I blended my colors from light to dark using the side of the brush nib to sweep the color across the petals. I tried to leave some white on each petal to add a highlight and keep the flowers light and airy.

Hope you enjoy the cards!

Below are the supplies I’ve used for today’s project. All items were personally purchased except those marked with an asterisk (*) which were provided by a store or design team. I never share a product I do not like. All opinions are my own. Read more.

Spring Border One by Power Poppy

Spring Border One by Power Poppy

GOOD EVENING FRIENDS! Today is my mother’s 91st birthday so I spent the day taking her shopping and out to lunch. We had great time. I’m blessed that I still have both of my parents and that they are relatively healthy for their age. My parents no longer drive so I stop by every few days to take them out to lunch, run errands, or sit through their seemingly endless series of doctors’ appointments. As a result, I’m just now getting around to writing today’s post.

I’m back today with the new release from Power Poppy featuring illustrations from the Natural Beauties clear stamp set in digital format. Spring Border One includes one wide border image and three large individual images of Daffodils, Cowslips (Primroses), and Tulips plus four sentiments. Spring Border Two also includes one wide border image and three large individual images of Trillium and toadstools, Starflower, and Lily of the Valley and four sentiments.

I decided to color up the Cowslips shown below from the Spring Border One set.

As some of you know, I recently purchased a Brother Scan N Cut CM320. Fussy cutting is not my forte. Some crafters say that they find it relaxing. I’m not one of them. So after reading reviews, watching videos, and hearing other crafters rave about the machine, I finally broke down and bought one. This is my first card using an image cut by the machine. All I can say is OMG. I’M IN LOVE. As you can see, I set the machine to cut right at the image line (instead of adding a white border allowance). For images like this, I don’t really like seeing that white border. Besides – it cut off the spot where I strayed outside the line.

For the background, I used the Square Mandela Stencil by Gina K. Designs inked blended with Distress Ink in Antique Linen and Tea Dye. Recently, I had the opportunity to meet both Gina and Rina when they offered classes at Photo Scraps. Let me just say that they’re as fun and witty in person as they are in their videos. I learned so much so jump on the opportunity if they come to your local store.

That’s it for today! Be sure you stop by the Power Poppy blog for additional crafty inspiration.
